Does your ZL1 make this noise?

My local dealership just replaced cam/lifters after hearing this noise/tick. Vehicle was returned and the noise still exists...now they claim its a normal/expected noise (ticking during acceleration)

Can anyone confirm please?

Thanks in advance

You'll get some slapping/ticking sounds low in RPM when you are down around 1500 but not over 2000 like your video shows. It is hard to distinguish with an auto trans, could you keep it forced into a gear and repeat?

Absolutely not. Sounds like an exhaust leak. But my 18 ZL1 and my 21 ZL1 do not sound like that at all. Check for exhaust leaks at the manifolds.

Any mods to the car?

But that sounds like an exhaust leak.

That is not how the car is supposed to sound.

Zero mods on the car. I suspected exhaust leak as well - dealership "checked" and said no leaks (although I'm not convinced). I'm quickly loosing faith with the techs @ the dealership. I had the car for a week after cam/lifter replacement and I think a transmission line blew (or something that caused transmission fluid to spray everywhere in the engine bay/passenger front wheel. Towed back to the dealership yesterday. Once the trans issue is fixed, I'm going to another local dealership in hopes of fixing whatever the hell this noise is.

Thanks everyone!

I’ve had some terrible dealership experiences as well. Good luck and I believe moving dealers is sometimes the best move

I waited 6 months for a warranty repair on my 2019 Z06. GM ended up giving me a 5yr/72K mile warranty + making 2 payments for me ($2,500).
