Perhaps more interesting for collision repairers: “The roof is assembled using laser brazing, eliminating the need for ‘ditch channel’ seams and cover trim, giving the car a sleeker appearance while saving half a kilogram compared to traditional spot welding.” |

Thanks all - got by the body shop today to see how it was going. They were working on it when I arrived. Hopefully it will be done - at least with the unibody and paint work - in a few weeks. It will be 5 months since I picked it up at the auction.

Visited the shop again today, progress slowed over the holidays but should get it back in another week or so. The entire car has been repainted.

I'm sure they did a better job than GM with the paint.

...and in all honesty, that isn't overly difficult to achieve. Heck, even the goonzquad boys could likely beat modern gm paint quality

Today I finally got to pick up the car from the body shop and bring it home. I’m very happy with the work that was done, had a very knowledgeable tech working on it and he was pretty particular about his work. Paint quality is amazing. If you are local to the Phoenix area I highly recommend Raintree Auto Body in Scottsdale Airpark. All you see here are high end cars. The hood is missing the panel it closes on so it doesn’t line up in the photo.
Didn’t know where to start, but got a few things going tonight. Hopefully get the cooling system done tomorrow. Last edited by Sephx1; 01-14-2023 at 12:14 AM. |
