Hello all.

I'd like to thank each and everyone of you here for both directly and indirectly helping a new member to this forum.

Allow me to explain

Roughly 7 weeks ago I placed an order for a 2023 2 SS at my local dealership. I put down my deposit, was told my order was in and all was well, would take up to 6 months to see the vehicle so just hang tight.

Well, being pretty excited at this prospect as I've been waiting on the ability to be able to purchase a new model Camaro for over a decade, I figured what is another 6 months? In order to help pass the time, I crack open Youtube and begin to allow myself to finally watch some POV drives of it (I've refrained for personal reasons) and get other owners opinions of what they think of the Camaro.

During this video exploration phase, I found some information in regards to vehicle allocations and how the ordering process for GM works when you go to the dealership. Needless to say NONE of this was explained to me by the dealer, and I had no idea that there was a possibility I may never see the car. My fault? Absolutely, should have done my research, but I'm really new to this, I never thought I'd be in a position to where I'd be able to do something like this, and I don't really know anyone that has been through a process like this before, so I was stunned to find out a new car purchase wasn't so cut and dry now a days.

I come to find out I was supposed to be given an order number, which I never received, and in my desperation to find out how to attain it, I found the Camaro6 forums.

It was here that I learned in depth how the allocation and dealer relationship works, and what I needed to do to figure out if I could be negatively impacted and BOY was I ever being taken for a ride (and not in my new Camaro mind you).

A few of you reached out to me directly after I posted a few questions and responses to some writings on here, and told me to hound that salesperson for my order number as that is where I'm to get it.

As soon as I began to ask him for it, he got dodgy, wouldn't return my calls, when I did get ahold of him he had every excuse in the book as to why he couldn't give me the number then and there.

I got that sinking feeling in my stomach, turned to you all once again for next steps, and that next step advice I was given lead to a bit of a miracle.

Through expanding my search options, I found an EXACT model of the car I was trying to order at the dealership, it had EVERY SINGLE option that I had selected sub the upgraded dual tipped exhaust (that I will have upgraded of course) and was currently IN TRANSIT to a dealership within driving distance of where I live.

I couldn't believe it, so I IMMEDIATELY called that dealership to find out that there was NO BUYER for that car and they were willing to accept a deposit to lock it down for me, so OF COURSE I put that deposit in and got the paper work rolling!!!

I confirmed all the options I saw on the site with the guy on the phone, got the VIN, and he was very honest in saying that he expects to see it in 4-6 days but obviously shipping delays can occur so it MIGHT take longer.

So again, I have to thank everyone here, because if it wasn't for this community I'd have been in the dark and sat without my chance at this beautiful machine for who knows how long, potentially indefinitely.

Congrats on the soon-to-be arrival, but just one FYI...

You cannot upgrade to Dual Mode Exhaust (the "dual tip" you mentioned...actually it's quad, two on each side, but we know what you mean). That is a factory-installed option that cannot be added later by a dealer. If you want to change your exhaust sound, you'll have to get an aftermarket system, and if it's got the ability to select different sounds it will have to be through a switch that's added somewhere. It can't be tied into the OEM systems. The other thing you need to consider before modifying your exhaust is that it could void your warranty. At least the powertrain portion.

So....enjoy the car when you get it, and do a lot of research on aftermarket exhausts before jumping into it. There's a lot of info on this forum and lots of folks with way more experience than me with it so you're in the right place.

ANOTHER reason I need this place, and yes, I will absolutely do my research before adding any after market items to the car. I actually have 2 I'm thinking of but will post about them after I actually get the car and break it in!!!

If you get the dual tip exhaust/no NPP with the car, and you're willing to install an axleback, I strongly recommend AWE, they have a quad-tip "virtual dual mode" solution that doesn't need (or offer) mode changes, its sound paths work based on the amount of throttle.

You may also want to get an aftermarket quad tip diffuser instead of hacking up the dual tip cutouts, such as my cheap, yet functional and 99% perfect diffuser below.

Sorry brother, let me be less cryptic and unpack this. I'm a noob myself, didn't mean to sound like a jackass. And thanks for the compliment, too I couldn't help but include two more pics, the first one is prior to installing side skirts.

NPP is codename for the dual mode factory exhaust option.

A company named AWE Tuning has this axleback exhaust product for our Camaros: https://www.awe-tuning.com/chevrolet...-exhaust-suite. It will not allow you to configure exhaust sound in the infotainment system the way it's done with the factory NPP option, because it is aftermarket and doesn't have the hardware (electronic valves in 2 of the 4 exhaust pipes) anyway; instead, they came up with a solution that changes the sound somewhat based on throttle, and it does sound amazingly good.

Aftermarket is your only realistic choice if you want quad tips or a better exhaust sound, the NPP option cannot be retrofitted. You have a wide variety of vendors and products to choose from, Borla, Corsa, AWE, Flowmaster, Hooker and so on, but this modification can give you a harder time with a dealership that has an anti-mod stance.

The diffuser is the black piece of plastic around the exhaust tips, below the painted rear bumper. Assuming your Camaro will not have the NPP (dual mode exhaust) option, your diffuser will have smaller cutouts for tips, so you can either hack it up and enlarge the holes, or buy an aftermarket one that looks even better than stock, which is what mine is (n e x t g e n s p e e d.com/shop/exterior-body-parts/diffusers/glossy-quad-tip-diffuser-16-19-camaro, remove the spaces from the domain name, the normal link is censored here for some cryptic reason).

I will add to what he offered for an axle back option as either the GM Performance exhaust upgrade (which may no longer be available?) or the Borla S-Type. They are literally the same exhaust except the GM one bears the bowtie (and costs more - lol).

The advantage over the option already mentioned is that it is a dual-tipped exhaust, so there is literally nothing to do except cut out and drop the giant suitcase muffler the car comes with and weld in the new individual mufflers and hang them.

I had this option installed on my car this past spring and the sound is much more throaty than the original one and it will change sounds based on how hard you press the loud pedal as well.

Thank you for the breakdown! I'm really excited to learn more about this world and if everyone is going to be this nice about then then it should be easy enough.

And yes, your car is awesome man, especially appreciate the pops of black you chose to break up the red. Pretty much the inverse of my package!

Glad to hear I have options, honestly I'm just so grateful to actually be getting this vehicle! Hearing that replacing the exhaust will be much more involved I'll move it down the priority list for now. I'm sure the default exhaust will sound way better than the Cruze I've been driving LMAO hahahahah.
