Cold temps for GYF1SC

Thinking about taking a road trip next week a couple hours from here but temps will be around 35f. Tires do not have much tread left. Bad idea? Thanks.

I wouldn't leave them outside overnight in those temps and then drive them though I think you'd get away with it for a few days assuming too the daytime temps came up quickly. Though I worked with a guy that also had a 1LE and he drove that thing every day in the dead of winter with those SC3's on it and didn't have a care in the world.

From what I understand about summer only tires, it sounds like a bad idea to me. I thought Summer Only tires were 40 degrees F or >...?

Over night the car would be in a garage, around 60f. Then it’s a two hour drive.

Possibly…

The high in that area is supposed to be 42f, but it will be colder when we get there.

I'd do it, grandma style, if the sun is out and roads have no puddles. Leaving from a 60-degree garage and driving on roads at 36-38, the tires should not turn into hard rubber skates.

I'm still driving mine when outside temps are below 40, but car is garage kept. I have an hour commute but usually temps are closer to 50 by the time I get to work. It can def get squirrely, esp off stops. Just keep your circumstances in mind and you'll be ay-ok!

That's what I'm leaning towards now, and possibly in snow/ice mode. Thank you

I had zero issues with those tires driving in temps down in the 30's, or driving in rain. No experience below 32 degrees or in ice/snow.

I drive in all conditions even in the 10s some mornings. Just take it easy when it’s super cold. Never had any issues.

35F is still perfectly fine for summer tires. You won't have as much grip but it won't be dangerous either.

Now if it was going to be in the low 20's, I would say don't drive.

I would not want to drive the OEM F1 Supercar tires at 35F for anything other than a life-n-death emergency, and even then I'd find another car. The wheels will be hockey pucks if the tires get cold.

60F start might be OK if the car never stops and tires don't get cold, but if you're used to their grip you'll feel them get slippery even at 60.

100% what Gunkk ^^^^ said.

35 air temp is not perfectly fine for real summer-only tires like F1SC, especially if road surface is below 35.
OP, its time for New Tires either way if tread is worn out , eh?

shiny side up.
