I'm sort of in your camp. I don't like the brake dust, but I'm not ready to replace brand new pads in order to get rid of it. I'm hoping the ceramic coating I just applied to my wheels will make them a lot easier to clean. I'm planning on washing the car this weekend for the first time since then so we will see.

At 5K miles with the factory polished aluminum wheels, I am leaning toward a Powerstop replacement pad. I had read about the dust in the forums and figured I could live with it given how often as I wash the car. But those front Brembos make for the wheel equivalent of "my black car looks ready to wash again five minutes after I finished washing it."

I understand. And with polished wheels keeping them clean is much harder. At least my 1LE wheels are dark colored (graphite) so they don't show the brake dust quite as bad.

It’s not only the wheels that get dirty. I just did mine at 10k strictly due to dust. Didn’t just pull the pins and drop in new pads, took calipers off to remove discs to clean them and backing plates. Dust was caked everywhere…coil springs, control arms, struts, sway bar, frame rails…and it’s corrosive. Attaches itself while hot and reacts with the steel and alloy. Couldn’t be happier they’re gone. No difference in performance.

I feel the same way and switched to the Z26 Powerstop pads after about 500 miles on the odometer from new. It was staggering how much dust the OEM pads create! So I’ve been on the Z26 pads for 4 years now. I’m still able to haul down from 149 MPH at the end of a quarter mile drag strip run too with no drama. So unless you’re tracking the car (and would have bought a 1LE in that case anyway lol), I’d switch the pads ASAP.

Almost convinced! So what is the part number for the Z26 Powerstop pads for the ZL1? Is it the Z26-1835 for the front ones?

I did a search on the Powerstop website and that’s what came up for your car.

It’s probably worth a call to them or you could verify that the caliper part numbers have not changed from ‘22 to ‘23 and this would confirm they’ll fit. Likely they just haven’t gotten around to adding their ‘23 listings.

What did I do today? Added Stabil, filled it up wiped it down, plugged in Battery Tender and covered it. Calling State Farm Monday and taking road coverage off. Done till the salt gets washed off the roads in the spring.
