It certainly doesn't appear to matter when your place an order. I'm trying to use the time time to save up for a larger down payment, but I have a sinking feeling this will end in disappointment. I didn't want to resort to a new mustang, but maybe that'll be my only option. I guess I should start figuring out their new trims, "Dark Horse" and all that stuff.

I’m not holding out much hope my 2SS order will get picked up or built.
If it doesn’t, I’ll probably get a 7th gen GT. Or a Dork Horse if I can convince my wife.

Mine is over halfway here on rail, but the train made a stop at a rail yard in Arkansas & hasn't moved for almost 48 hrs. I guess they want to make sure I don't get the 3.49% rate that ends at the end of October.

just look at monthy US sales/production numbers for 2022 vs an "average" pre-pandemic year like 2019. Anywhere from 30-50% of what we would expect. The only precedent and anecdotal evidence we have is people on this forum that we know never got their 2022 order.

https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/chev...sales-numbers/

Again, the lack of transparency is on GM's side. The dealers aren't kept any more informed than we are. The best we can hope for is a random news article like this describing constraints on hood insulation, brake calipers, heated seats, paint colors, backup sensors, silicon chips, V6 engines... I've changed options on my order twice as constraints came and went.

I placed my order with a relatively small local dealer. I don't think it happens a lot, but it's frustrating seeing GM deliver allocations to large dealers for inventory when there are orders out there with money down and actual names of people behind them.

It's their company, they can run it how they want, we don't have to like it. Our only real option to take our money elsewhere, which is really not what I want to do.

2023 2SS

My build is at 4300 status with a build week of 10-24 So its being built this week. FINALLY!!!! Im sure most of you have gone through the pain of getting allocation like I did.
Ordered a 2022 last Feb. Ordered through a small dealer who couldnt get me allocation. 2022 order was cancelled in April and reordered 2023. Still couldnt get allocation so I put an order in late June with 2 more larger dealers hoping one of them could get allocations. Finally in August I got it Been a long time coming. Hoping the process going forward is smooth. Maybe Ill be driving in 6-7 weeks

Ok, so the size of the dealer matters? I did go to a larger Auto Nation Chevrolet dealership out in Gilbert, AZ so hopefully they will have the required allocations.

I called my sales guy yesterday as I want to ask about adding paint protection, but I was hoping I'd get an order number or something I can have checked up on as well. Haven't heard back yet though....

I had an order in with the same dealership for months with no allocation. My salesman kept saying "next week". I learned my lesson and put in an order with multiple dealerships. Finally got picked up at one in Tucson. Just a heads up. And do your own paint protection. The dealership uses crap with inexperienced people applying it over dirt. Should of got the order number when you put your deposit down.

Yeah, probably my fault there, I put the deposit down on a Sunday, so the order didn't officially go in until the next day. I did email the guy to ask and make sure they did in fact put in the order, to which he replied he did, but I of course have no way of verifying that.

If I don't hear back anything by CoB today I'm going to drive up there tomorrow and see what is going on. I'll start calling around to other dealerships now though, thanks for the heads up.

I realize you already know this, but it's worth repeating. Unless the dealer gets an allocation for the model your order will not move. You can ask the dealer for the Workbench order number. The dealer can submit an order without an allocation.

Get a receipt also. They should of gave you that when you put a deposit down. Most Phoenix dealerships are doing market adjustment, so might want to call around the state. Make sure you ask and get it in writing.

Yep. Bullshit on GM side. If it actually shows up on the predicted ETA, it will be a 10 month journey.

That's insane man. Did you ever attempt to possibly find one in transit that wasn't spoken for? Or did you just make up your mind you were going to be patient and wait it out?

Fortunately, I DO have the receipt haha, they gave me this transaction form as well and I've scanned it but I don't have anything that says "order number" on it.

Yeah, I'm worried about this now, when I went and put in the order / deposit I had no idea this whole allocation system even existed. It was only a couple of weeks ago I found out about it.
