AA Wireless Quick Question

I see they are selling on Amazon now.

If you have to connect your phone to this dongle via bluetooth, do you first need to disconnect your phone from your head unit? I'd assume if you leave your phone connected to your HD as a bluetooth device and have the AA Wireless Dongle device, your phone would connect to your HU first? or get confused as to which one it should be connected to?

It doesn't get confused, you can just leave bluetooth enabled and don't need to do any manual hokey-pokey with your connections, the AAWireless unit manages them automatically (it can turn on bluetooth, connect, negotiate, then disconnect and let the head unit connect). You shouldn't have to do absolutely anything once the initial pairing and setup is done.

Once initial negotiation completes on each startup (takes about 20-30 seconds), mine remains connected to the head unit via bluetooth and to the AAWireless dongle via wifi, and everything works seamlessly. For example, I can play music via the head unit as well as AA, all sources are present.

Awesome thx! I think I'm going to buy one and check it out. I was curious because I plan to buy one and try it out in my Car and on my Harley. I didn't want to have to worry about disconnecting my phone as a bluetooth device from the HU in both in order to try this out. If I like it, I'll probably buy two more. One for the bike, Camaro, and Tahoe.

Good to hear it works well..I just bought one this morning on Amazon. Android Auto absolutely refused to connect this morning after multiple tries (USB connection error) and I finally got frustrated enough to pull the trigger...I was happy to see that AAWireless was finally available on Amazon...

One thing I've noticed in the couple of cars I own with Android Auto -- when the connection is unstable or it won't connect, it's often either dust or grime in you phone's USB-C port (can clean it out with a toothpick and you may be surprised how much crap gets in there) OR it's a junk USB-C cable. I only buy Anker USB-C cables now and they've never failed me.

Since your connection "to the car" will be via the wireless dongle, there is no need for your head unit to know about the phone or the phone to know about the head unit - you can delete each device in the other's BT profile. No confusion as the only device the phone will know of is the dongle.

It's a great little device and after the initial setup, it connects 100% of the times flawlessly and almost instantly.

I have been using the AA Wireless dongle for nearly two years in my camaro using my s21 ultra and this little device is flawless you will love it. This device started out as a crowdfunder two ago and really has grown and recently just started to sell on Amazon.

So can you have 2 or 3 of these AA Wireless devices... One in each vehicle and still have them all work? Or can you only hook up your phone to one of these devices?

The BT piece shouldn't be a problem, but I don't know how it would handle the WiFi piece.

yeah, it connects to the phone via wifi, but I haven't done any packet analysis beyond that to see if they each each have a unique ssid, or maybe they're going by MAC address, which is an easy enough system.

Aside from these dongles, I have enough of a headache when my wife & I start both of our cars to go different places, ad her phone likes to connect to the wrong car (mine). Then I have to drop her connection from my dashboard, and switch it over to my phone.

First world problems, I know
