Transmission Tune Question
Sorry this may belong in the tuning section ( or the drivetrain/transmission section):
So as I understand it for my 2018 ZL1 I need to send my computer to HP tuners to get it unlocked in order to do a tune on the transmission? and are the tune changes for the transmission generic so to speak and not specific to the modes performed on the car? as a comparison if I added more HP and Torque to the engine (MODS) I would obviously require changes in the engine tune for every change I made. So can I tune the transmission once and not have to adjust it again as I make changes to the engine (mods).. Thanks |

You have to send it out to get unlocked. Hpt provides a base file to edit after you read the unlocked TCM, then you make changes needed for your setup. Depending on what further mods you do may require adjusting the trans tune again.

It'll depend on where you are now and where you'll end up power wise with the next mods. Predicted torque plays a large part in line pressure, so if not set properly, it won't apply enough or too much, and shifts will be sloppy. At higher power levels you'll notice a lot of trans slip if this isn't done correctly as well. So the answer is, it depends...
