Infotainment system.

My last GM product was a 2016 Z06. My DD's have been F150's and Rams. Just signed up for a 2023 ZL1. How do those that have what I'm used to rate this latest system? I've gotten used to using Android auto in my latest F150 and I use that navigation more than the Ford Sync 4 nav. I do like that my presets can jump between siriusxm (yeah, I like it) and local ota stations without the need to close and open either.
Anyway, I started looking for a lightly used Roush Stage 3 or Jackhammer. And then I kept looking at cars on the road and whenever I came across a ZL1, it caught my attention. So I started looking at used ZL1's for sale.... Not many and they have big prices. Then I found a local dealer that had a cancelation available. Right color - black. Convertible. GM friends and family discount...... Had to sign up.

Now the wait. One more question. Can I track the order status with the dealership order #?

They ALL suck, just in different ways.

In my 2015 Silverado, bluetooth to my phone "just works". I have an iPod I leave connected all the time. No issues. The navigation in it is crap.

In the Camaro, Android Auto frequently completely resets my Bluetooth devices and forces me to re-pair the phone to every vehicle I drive. Chevy has jumped on the "we're going to force you to buy OnStar" bandwagon, so my current Camaro is my last GM product since they now ALL require that garbage.

Dunno, I like the pre-refresh MyLink, it's at least 100% reliable at making bluetooth connections, wired or even wireless AA (with a little help), and navigation works well, too, just like everything else it offers.

Audio quality is middle of the road with the Bose system, not bad but I heard many that were better, but that's okay, the V8 sings the best tunes anyway. Some here say audio in 2019+ cars sounds better.

Nothwithstanding all that, I do agree that these systems are a very far cry from anything one would consider a modern platform, Tesla is clearly leading the way there. I just don't mind much, because to me a Camaro isn't yet another place to stare at and tap-tap on some screen, it's a muscle car made to enjoy the driving experience.

I agree with a lot of this. Like you, I don't take the Camaro out because I want a lot of fancy tech at my fingertips. But, it would be nice if a few things works CORRECTLY all of the time.

Android Auto is hit or miss. When it connects, it seems to work ok. But it will randomly delete the BT profile off of my phone and force me to completely re-pair from start. I'm wondering if moving to a Wireless AA connection will help any of that for me since mine is wired only on the 2020.

The auto volume control, in a convertible, is worthless. They need to support TWO auto volume profiles - one for when the top is open and one for when it's closed.

The bass from the Bose system is awful. Again, with the convertible top down, if you turn the music a bit, the bass totally drowns everything out.

The best infotainment system I ever had was in my 2006 Acura TL and 2008 Acura MDX. The system was made by Alpine and it was not just flawless but the features were useful. My 2017 RDX uses the newer system and it's "ok", but outdated.

My 2011 Toyota Tundra Platinum was the absolute worst for features, and my various mid-2000's Ford systems with Sync2 were the most unreliable overall.

I'd like to see the multi-driver profile stuff start being able to track either paired phones or preferred paired phones by driver profile. What's the point of having fully customized settings for me when I drive her car if her phone ends up being the one that the car tries pairing to first all the time? NO ONE does that that I'm aware of.

I haven't had any issues with wireless carplay, reliably syncs and plays as required. The Bose system isn't too bad, but its not the best.

I've got a 2022 Audi Q7 and the android auto and apple car play in that is actually worse than in the Camaro lol.

No issues with Bluetooth or Android Auto in my '19. The infotainment system has been solid for me. I only paired my phone once and it connects every time. Call quality is good in the car and I haven't had any complaints about people on the other end not being able to hear me.

At this point, every car manufacturer (besides Tesla?) supports Android Auto & CarPlay. That's really all I care about since it's a far superior experience to every infortainment system.

The main thing I'd change with the Camaro setup -- having another option for control besides touch screen. I feel it is safer and easier to navigate an infotainment system with a knob, dial, touchpad or some other type of physical control.

My only real issue is call quality. Noone can hear me when I'm doing anything more than 30 MPH and its a real pain. They complain about road noise. Dealership confirmed the issue and replaced the microphone but that didn't fix it and they dont know whats causing it.

I haven't had any issues with Bluetooth or Android Auto in my '16... Both work all the time.

The 2023 IOS works well. Wireless Android Auto is super fast, you get music in under 10 seconds. Voice commands work well. Map looks good (8" screen). The gauge LCD can display some features as well. Using the MyChevrolet app to select station preferences was handy. Can assign different preferences to each keyfob for multiple users.

I rent new cars often for work and this is the nicest i've seen in a car (but it's also the newest). SUV and large trucks can get premium packages that are nicer.

Biggest complaint I have with the screen is the angle. It's aimed down to combat glare... which is just weird. Maybe i'm just sitting too high but I like to see that sweet hood!

Lack of fast USB charging is lame and I'll be adding USB-C charging ports very soon.

Thanks I can see why GM angled it down because my Corvette's screen was completely unreadable with the top down. Hoping I'll be able to see this one with the top down. Which.....at this point, won't be until next spring. I doubt I will see it before November. Hoping to get it home on streets that aren't salt covered.

Mine obviously doesn't have wireless Android Auto from the factory, I use AAWireless, but that also has to make the USB connection via the dongle every power cycle (it basically tells the car it's a phone and to the phone that it's a car with wireless AA), so if your "normal" AA is not reliable or messes with Bluetooth, it's is unlikely to help with that.

This whole shebang works perfectly on my car, I don't even know which USB port the dongle is plugged into, I never mess with it.

Keeping it straight and vertical would've been better, I'm afraid. Those with ceramic white leather seats probably can't ever see anything as the screen reflects passenger seat color, and I already had passengers wearing light garments make reading the display very difficult.

I guess it's something with GM. My screen in my 2021 F150 is readable with the sunroof open and no tilt. Same with the Ram. For some reason GM hasn't figured out screen brightness. It obviously is do-able. My Garmin plotter on my boat sits in bright sunlight and it's easy to read. Seems like there isn't much change since 2016. If it's just reflection, I'd think a mat screen protector would fix that. But that won't fix brightness in sunlight.

I have a Carsifi adapter that I have to unbox and set up... Since the dongle sits between the phone and head unit, and they are never allowed to talk directly, I'm hoping that stops mucking with the configuration on the phone.
