Do all ZL1's have the shorter throw shifter or only 1LE?
GM parts site is confusing. Says it is a short throw shifter, then says it isn't. I can get one out of a ZL1 but wondering if it needs to be a 1LE. Doesn't clarify with RPO A1Z or not.

Anyone? I thought this would be an easy one.
Having a discussion with one of the veteran parts guys at the dealership wasn't much help. He thinks A1Z is the RPO for ZL1. It isn't, it's 1AL37. RPO codes posted for MY 2021, it appears they haven't changed. Looking on GM's site they make no mention of the short throw shifter in the 1LE option details for the SS or the ZL1. |

As far as I know, the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE have the same gearbox Tremec TR6060. However the ZLE has a shorter 6th gear, so there is a slight difference. Shifter itself should be the same.

I see part numbers...
24288056 and 24288054 24288054 says short throw with supercharger 24288056 says standard throw without supercharger So I would interpret that as 24288054 is the short throw shifter which comes on ZL1 & ZL1 1LE. And 24288056 is the standard throw shifter which comes on SS. One ends in 54, the other in 56 which made me think...what about 55? Quick Google led me to 24288055 which looks like is the shifter for the v6 & i4 models. Then I figured well maybe that's not comprehensive and there are similar part numbers earlier or later in the series. Looking up 242088053 yielded zero results. However, 242088057 appears to be the SS 1LE shifter. Not sure if that's 100% correct or helpful, but using the context it's the best I can deduce. If it is accurate, there are four different shifter part numbers: (1) ZL1/ZLE (2) SS 1LE (3) SS (4) V6/I4 I have no idea the differences besides the ZL1/ZLE & SS 1LE being described as short throw and SS & V6/I4 being described as standard throw.

From what I gather. People say just go Hurst. The OEM shifter is a 6 or 8 % reduction over the standard shifter while the Hurst is 40% over the OEM short throw.
What I found is that the SS 1LE, ZL1 and ZL1 1LE share the OEM short throw shifter. So you'd be wasting time and money since you have a SS 1LE. |

I know my ZL1 has a short throw shifter in it as compared to the 2016 2SS I owned before.

Thanks all for your replies today. I’m thinking all Z’s have it based on the comments. I probably should have clarified this is a repair to my ZL1 1LE from the damage it sustained in a crash before I bought it. The part of the shifter that is broken doesn’t come with the Hurst (now Holley) kit.
