ZLE Dash Rattles
Man over some certain road surfaces my dash rattles/chatters like an old ladies teeth who is swimming in a frozen lake. It only has 8K miles on it. The DSSV's really don't give this dashboard any respite.
Seems to be two large culprit areas. The center/vent cover at the center of the dash up towards the windshield and the junction area of the left dash vent where it meets the driver door upper trim. Anyone know of a good plan of attack? I may just start taking my plastic trim tool and try stuffing felt into every crack/crease I can find. |

Radio up. I spent decades trying to make cars perfect. You fix one you’ll hear another. Just leave it. Drive and enjoy.

I've heard a couple of light rattles but they come and go and usually nothing there. I track my 2018 ZLE a lot and have 16k miles on it and I've been very pleased with what I consider the relatively solid build and lack of rattles--and I added all spherical bearings in rear suspension. The ZLE is my first American car and I expected it to be much worse, I've heard Mustangs rattle a lot. I suppose some ZL1s rattle more than others.
I think you have the right idea, find the locations and wedge felt or something similar between dash sections and that should eliminate or help a lot. If it bothers you that much you might find a car interior customization shop with expertise in this issue who could do the job right. |

Dash rattles are THE WORST. I hear a few on mine as well, but it's not enough to bug me yet.
As for trying to narrow it down, check the black little wedges beneath the doors themselves. They are supposed to be a source of rattles that somehow make their way toward the center.

I've heard people who have owned both ZL1 and ZLE say the ZLE will rattle like crazy due to the harshness of the DSSV's. Maybe inevitable with those shocks?

My shifter rattles a lot. I mean A LOT! I just started hearing the dash but it's not all the time.
I'm not exactly easy on my car tho. |

Yep, this. That's why its a track package and not designed for the street. My standard ZL1 has no dash rattles.

For what it's worth, as another data point, my 6-month-old ZLE has so far no rattle after 5700 semi-rough miles. But yes, I could see how the rougher ride can result in faster rattling than the non-DSSV cars.

I also have BMR spherical suspension parts in rear and they clicked some until I used Blaster brand white lithium spray and the sounds are completely gone for 3-4 month stretches. Reapplying takes 5 min |

Damn some of y'all must be on some harsh roads in your ZLE's...I'm at 14k in my ZLE and the only thing that rattles is something briefly in the back of the driver C pillar area when the car is cold.

My dash and rear deck rattle pretty bad with bass intense music. But, with nothing on, it doesn't make a sound. I tend not to listen to music in general so, it's fairly uncommon.
