It should be absolutely doable. My 5th gen had a small screw that held in the shifter knob and many companies make adapters along with their shift knobs.

A google search should yield some good results.

There is a company in Massachusetts called EPCO where I got a marble 8 ball shifter for my 2018 ZL1. I had to also buy a Barton adapter to get it to fit, but I love it. To be 100% transparent, this is NOT a full shifter replacement. The original knob gets replaced with this aluminum shaft and ball on top. That is the stock boot pushed a bit lower.

here's a video of what the shift throws look like. this was shortly after it was installed so it's broken in a lot since then and is a lot smoother through the gears:

Wow, that's a really impressive improvement. I imagine this could be done easier when an engine is removed for a cam install.

Martin, my suggestion is to install the Hurst shifter if you really want one. Go ahead and do it! 👍
