I guess I am still hoping someone with experience at both car tell me if the different is obvious minus times at the track? I don't care much about times. I care more about feeling and handling and for this case, the deltas.

What does that DSC controller bring to the table for the ZL1?

I’d be interested in knowing this as well^^

Practically,

1. The factory shock controller adjust dampening based only on wheel position.
2. DSC uses all of the CAN bus data and a built-in accelerometer to adjust dampening based on what the car is doing. Accelerating, braking, or just driving down the highway.
3. The DSC controller is fully programmable for each suspension mode: Tour, Sport, Track.
4. I adjust the front/rear stiffness to tune oversteer bias depending on the tires that I run.
5. The downside is that the software is extremely complicated and DSC provides limited guidance.

From DSC:

Replacing the factory shock controller, the DSC Sport V4 is a state-of-the-art user definable suspension controller that fully interfaces with the factory dash display and controls. The V4 Controller features velocity calculations as well as brake pressure, g-force, acceleration, steering, speed (mph), and full individual shock calibration tables. Digitally tune the chassis just as you would the engine! Tune more grip into the tire, while tuning a more compliant ride for the street. The DSC Sport V4 Controller is equally at home as a daily driver or full-time track setup.

2 were at Summit Point Shenandoah and 1 was at VIR.

I used to have a C7 Z06 with the DSC module. It really works with respect to infinite damping calibration but depending on the model/make - sometimes the manufacturer does a better job than DSC.
Ex: GT350 factory damping was superior to DSC.

I had a 2017 Zl1 and traded it for the 2021 zle. I love it and wouldn’t go back to the
Zl1. It’s a rougher ride but it’s expected. I did change my tires to Michelin PS4S and
glad I did.

Why wouldnt you go back to ZL1? What are some of the key differences that make you enjoy the ZLE more than the ZL1?

Having said that and while I only have the SS 1LE and not the ZL1, I can tell you that the feel and chassis composure is amazing and very confidence inspiring.

The ZLE probably feels just a bit more planted and recovers a bit quicker when upset, but not enough to alter laps times much (assuming equal tires).

IMO, I think the damping on the MRC shocks could be a little quicker and crisp on the rebound stroke and that would make the car feel even better.

The DSSV's give you that, but at the expense of ride quality. I really think the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle of both, which I think could have been achieved on the ZLE if GM had worked with Muti-matic and offered a few spring rate options.

The other thing at play is maybe GM needed those spring rates with the downforce the ZLE produces. That is the double edge sword when you start getting into aero, the more downforce aero you have the stiffer the springs need to be to handle that compression at speed.
I dont think it's 90%, I have a lot of experience with how much difference great track suspension + aero can make.

On another car just switching from KW V3s to Ohlins DFVs, I picked up almost 2 seconds. And adding a big rear wing can mean the difference between a tendency for scary spin outs at high speed to being firmly planted through the same turns.

Yeah, the downforce equation does indeed play a factor. Which you would only know at fast track speeds where you are hitting 120+ in the corners on a less than smooth track.

I've run on Shenandoah with over 100 deg ambient and experienced zero issues with MRC "overheating" as you indicated with 20 to 45 mins sessions.

The only advantage the ZLE has that I like is the wing. Everything else is a waste for me, and yes I plan to track my car, have a track 20 miles away.

I had a 2017 ZL1 and don't miss it at all. Every time I get in the 1LE I have a ton of fun driving it.
