Yeah totally understand that. ZL1 and the SS 1LE which share some parts are going to be slow going for a few months at least unfortunately.

I mean, if you (my dealer) told me that I am 100% getting a car by next May, I could wait. I just don't want to sit here waiting and then entirely miss out.

That status is basically code 1100, which means the dealer has entered the order in the system but they do not have an allocation and so the order has not been picked up by GM yet. Once the order is accepted by GM it goes status 2000.

During normal times you could go into a dealer and ask if they had an allocation available and they could tell you. However, with the supply issues most of us are waiting for an allocation. To make matters worse, you have no idea if or when they will get one. Usually once a week the dealer will get an allocation report. If you are 3rd in line for a ZL1 and the dealer only gets 1 ZL1 allocation or none for the month then you keep waiting, and waiting and waiting. Some folks put multiple deposits down at multiple dealerships to try an increase their odds but that can get expensive and annoying to have to go get deposits back.

I wish GM would just move to an online order system like Tesla. You simply build it online, leave your $250 deposit and they give a rough timeframe. Once built you get a VIN assigned and delivery date. Easy peasy. This dealer allocation crap is horrible, plus all their fees, and the fact some one can bump you to the bottom of the list if they pony up some cash is BS. This is basically what happens with all the C8 Corvettes right now. Dealers take orders at MSRP but when they get an allocation they assign them to the folks willing to pay 15-20k over MSRP and the MSRP folks just keep getting bumped.

If GM would allow direct ordering we could avoid all that dealer markup crap. Everyone pays the same for the Tesla and no dealer fees, undercoating, pinstriping, extended warranty, wheel and tire protection, blah blah.

Yea, totally agree. I've ordered multiple cars over the years but never had this much difficulty getting an order in. GM is not handling this well for us, at all!

I totally agree with the allocation part, and some of the dealership stuff too. Like at my store we do not sell over MSRP on any vehicle (new that is) we market adjust used only and have no dealer or doc fees whatsoever. No extras period. However I am at a top 5 fleet dealer nationally and pay very little in advertising to GM. Therefore they give me smaller allocation on Camaro and Corvette. Will dump hundreds of trucks, equinox, and fleet malibus on us but I as of now am selling 6 Corvette and Camaros a year. Trying to fix that but I'm not one of these corporate stores so its all a game really in every aspect.

It's a slow buildup and now is a terrible time to try and get more inventory on cars like Corvette and Camaro. I started asking for more Camaros and Corvettes when I got to this store 10 years ago. When I got here, they sold maybe 2 Corvettes per year and maybe 5 Camaros. Before covid, we were selling 50-60 Camaros per year and around 15-20 Corvettes.

We are getting 1 or 2 C8 allocations per month just because I built our Corvette sales up over a 10 year period. Camaros, it doesn't really matter. Even though we used to easily sell 5 per month out of our small store, we now struggle to get enough allocation to sell even 10 per year.

I wish there were dealers like you in Florida. The lowest dealer fee here is $899 and most are $1000+ and then the $300-$500 in doc fees and they want ADM on top.

The Dealership I worked at for 5 years charges EVERYBODY $2695. in protection package, wheel locks, window tint, no exceptions. They will let you walk if you balk. Even for me, with GM Legacy status! Employees at that dealership don't buy there due to the rule. It's a HUGE dealer too!

I ordered from another Chevy dealership in town with no addon prices at all to the GMS price. GM does allow employees a small doc fee to be charged; I think it's $75. Last time the dealer screamed that the limit is for "the employee only"....

I will get window tint where I want, not there. I will add wheel locks if I want to later. I know how to wax my car. Geesh...

Damn, I wonder why people continue to pay for this stuff and keep them in business. Usually, dealers will get a bad reputation and it will hurt their repeat business. I see it by a dealer by me. The treat you like crap. They say, we sell at MSRP but it requires this $3,000 package plus dealer and doc fees. So, you are really $4,500 over MSRP before you even pay a visit to the finance department.

It will be very interesting as the industry continues moveing toward EVs. The next generation of buyers will expect to purchase direct, do all the paperwork online ahead of time and take delivery in 15 minutes. I bought two Telsa Model 3s this way and my mind was blown. The trade-in, financing, etc. is all done online.

From a service perspective, I had a scratch on the rocker panel when the car was loaded off the transporter. I opened a service ticket via the Tesla app on the phone and received a text that parts were ordered, a day later a service tech showed up at my home and replaced the part in my garage. Anything service that does not require a lift or special tools gets done via the mobile techs.

Got the best news today, order accepted and moved to 3000 Status! I was starting to get concerned with my dealer's allocations given the delay from ordering to now. They had an order before mine but I moved ahead due to color constraints (Sharkskin) for the other order.

I'm vibrating with excitement! The waiting process is an emotional roller coaster.

Congrats.

I have a Vivid Orange Metallic ZL1 M6 on order. If I am lucky I should see it sometime in 2024 if they are still building Camaros.

My order was at 3000 last week with a TPW of 7/18. I have not checked on it this week.

Going to place an order with a third dealer today that claims he 100% has an allocation. But with the 2SS and 1LE on constraint, I don't think it even matters anymore. Be lucky to get a 2SS 1LE this year it seems.

Found a used 2020 I like, but 36k miles :/
