I have the Azenias 660s on my ZLE (on BC Forged 19s) for street use. The OEM wheels and tires are safely stored in my basement. The 660s are SO much better for Street use (don’t get enough heat into the Goodyears driving them on the street to really work great) compared to the 660s. They work with minimal heat and grip is real good. Tram lining is less too. Even the ride is a tiny bit better. I really like them.

I’m not actively searching until this winter. I’m just researching and hoping pre-owned ZL1 prices decline during that time.

Could happen, but I'd be surprised if the prices go down. This is the best car in the last generation of ICE muscle cars, and arguably the best ever in terms of overall performance (handling + power, etc). I see an electric sports car for track use in my future, but I know that a lot of older people with disposable income/assets don't like electric cars and have strong affinity for American muscle cars.

Agree with many of the posters. Running SC3Rs on the street is such a waste. You would really have to be hammering the twisties (way harder than you think you’re going) for them to get up to temp and be useful. PS4S are a much better choice. I find my ps4s to be a better all around tire on the street, it hooks better and handles better. That being said, on track (meaning a road course), you aren’t beating a SC3R unless you’re running a full slick.

They already were down, they just went back up in the last few years due to the car market going nuts. I’ve seen videos and reports of people buying perfect sub-5K mile ZL1 1LEs for $53K two years back. If they don’t come back down I may indeed have look elsewhere (probably another Z06), but I’m confident I’ll find one.

It’s why I sold my Focus RS last month, where I was able to get more for it than it cost new…and plan to buy a ZL1 once the market corrects itself.

But we’re a bit off topic…

IMO new SC3R are basically the same as a new slick--I ran used SC3R and nearly new A7 back to back on my ZLE and tires "feel" different but lap times were close or the same--too many other factors like time of day, ambient temps, etc. And SC3R will definitely outlast Hoosiers.

A sticker new set of Pirelli DH would have an advantage I think, but I also know that my coach did a 1:27 at Laguna in a 765LT on SC3R. I believe that is 3-4 seconds faster than factory and major magazine tests on fresh tires in P1, La Ferrari, 918, Viper ACR, GT2 RS, etc

Keep in mind that many of those magazine test cars were customer cars. I know the owner of the P1 that set the lap time…he might have been the guy to donate a LaFerrari to test there too since he owns three of them.

Most magazines aren’t going to drive at 10/10 in a customer car. That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if a 765LT beat them all with everything being equal, it’s a crazy fast car. Isn’t the Senna the street car to beat on a track now? Unless we’re including SCG003 or insane cars like that.

Some of these lap times were driven by Randy Pobst, when he does these tests at Willow Springs and Laguna he drives 10/10 about as fast as anyone can--he knows these tracks. Jeff's 1:27 in a full interior street car on "street" tires would scare the hell out of most people, it tells you how good the SC3R is vs slicks. I doubt anyone will beat it in a 765 for awhile.

IMO SC3R is the best overall DOT circuit track tire in the world for advanced drivers, and many Porsche, McLaren, GT350 and Corvette owners seem to agree.

SC3R rubber is too hard at normal/street ambient temps and PSC2, R888R, RE71R, Hoosier etc are much softer at these temps (even Pirelli DH). But after 1 hot lap I'd take the SC3R over all of these, the Pirelli DH is the closest IMO I run these scrubs on 18s.
Hoosier A7 or R7?

Anyone have any experience with Perelli Trofeo R tires? Vs SC3R

On the same vein, I'm struggling with the 3Rs... I had a talk with Randy about the SC3Rs and he like them, but they aren't slicks. He differed to a friend of his at Tire rack that is on the HiPerf side. His thoughts were the 3R is akin to a PS Cup2 and while very good, he thinks for a lap time, the A052 is faster.

My car doesn't do anything weird, just doesn't have great outright grip in the middle of long radius corners with the entire car breaking away and lap times have stabilized, even with changes...

I am going to finish out one more day on the set I have, then try something else.

Weight is going to be a huge impediment to (affordable/non-hybrid hypercar level) EV's competing on track (or even being particularly fun to drive on one) for awhile, along with run time flat out vs. charge time. Almost going to need a step change in battery tech for it to happen (much lighter/much faster charging/higher capacity).

Lot of people talk about PS4S, but not about their gummy walls.

Try Yokohama v107 and do yourself a favor

PS4S is a street tire. SC3R is a track tire. That’s a different conversation.
