Does ZL1 use afm style lifters
I think I am correct that ZL1 LT4s do not have AFM? Did the Z06 LT4 have AFM? My Zl1 is waiting at the factory to be shipped and I was just wondering if the ZL1 uses the afm lifters since my trucks cyl 7 lifters just failed.

I am pretty sure it uses the same lifters. I also think auto vs manual determines if the car comes with AFM or not. Not 100% sure so hopefully someone else chimes in.

I believe the only non AFM lifter equipped motor is the manual LT4.

The only Non AFM hardware LT engine is the LT5. All other LT engines have AFM lifters even though some cars have it disabled in the tune.

If you refer to this post Al confirmed no AFM on ZL1 with either transmission. Based on what I read the AFM hardware is in there but is not active in the tune hence the gas guzzler tax.

It's is installed on both M6 and A10 cars but not activated.
Don't know why GM left it in there for ZL1. I guess to save money? |

So have Camaro ZL1s had the famed GM failed afm lifter issues? I seem to only hear about the issue on truck and suvs

The way I understand it they only tend to fail when afm is active

can confirm AFM lifters are physically in the manual LT4, ordering parts for the cam swap was so confusing
