Exactly. It’s better in every way and would have been worth it for sticker price before the price increase, but you can’t get them for anywhere near that. Used ones with thousands of miles are selling for over sticker. It’s insane |

what am I missing here? You forgot to mention the ZL1 is considerably lighter as well, I threw 8k at my Z and now am running if not beating GT500s, and I’m still considerably UNDER the MSRP of that Furd, and even more under the outrageous dealer markups most with blue oval glasses are dumb enough to spend on it. Have you looked at quarter mile times between the 500 and the ZL1?

I also like to idea of getting as much power from the stock blower as possible. But... if you were only hoping for a 40hp gain, then i would do E85 first.

"Better in every way" doesn't really tell me anything to be honest and I'm not trying to be a dick. I only asked because I did look at the 500 for a quick second when it was taking forever to get my ZL1. In the end, I couldn't justify the price and it super dumb but I'm a Chevy guy through and through.

Value-wise, yes the ZL1 is hard to beat. Matter of fact, it is unbeatable in that regard. I love mine and I can't even think about parting with it. Especially after modding it. It is a very enjoyable car. It is definitely my favorite car. |

However we're getting off topic. LOL!! Again, if the warranty is the issue, then your best bet is to stick with a cai and catback. It won't net you 40 HP but it will liven the car up a bit. Running a higher percentage of E85 (as was mentioned) without a sensor and without a tune is dangerous. For starters, you won't really know your actual ethanol content without a sensor and gauge. And without a tune you'll just throw codes and it likely won't run properly. Running a ported blower on the stock tune is also not a good idea as you will likely throw a code and possibly harm your engine. If you did cause harm and bring it to the dealership then they will for sure find out that it was ported and your warranty will be toast anyway. So I would knock those two options off the table. Basically, anything you do that is serious enough to get you an extra 40 HP will require a tune. That is just the way it is unfortunately.

Are you seriously suggesting that a stock ZL1 will outrun or even keep up with a stock GT500 in the 1/4, or I have misunderstood your debate?
