I dont agree that you can sell it for much more than $2k. 1.7L blowers just aren't in high demand.

The thread is intended to be lighthearted musing about changing to a 2650 or not. That's it. But a few haters always try to take it over.

I am not a hater. I have exchanged PM's with you several times offering advice that you aske me for. Either way you are compensating with all of this correction factor stuff. You are using a NA correction factor on a Supercharged car. Myself and others mentioned it to you in another thread and you ignored it. Only reason why I brought it up. When you post a time all you simply need to do is post DA with it. So you ran 10.68 @ 8000da. Nobody wants to read your special JSH math correction formula. I think you have other issues to sort before worrying about more power.

And I am not saying your car is slow. The track you run at is a slow track as I mentioned in the other thread.
I would worry about dialing in your current setup more before adding more power. You have only made 5-6 runs? Swapping to a 2650 is not a guarantee that you will run quicker at the track.

No, why even waste time with 1.7, if you're gonna mod, you might as well go all the way and do it RIGHT. 2650 IS THE ONLY RIGHT ANSWER. You must really like heat if you don't go 2650. An inefficient little heat pump is all that is. why waste your money when you could have just jumped off of the cliff and spent 20k + for a FULL BUILD. Never worth upgrading 1.7, just silly and lazy. Do it RIGHT the first time or not at all! LOL

You're wrong. I'm using the SS correction factor of .9406, which applies to supercharged cars running factory superchargers such as the 1.7, and the 2650. A $300m Cobalt SS (race car) running a custom built (Stanfield) COPO engine with a built 2650 on top runs (various) SS classes ... and I get the same correction that it does --- .9406, which I use here simply as a benchmark. This car will run 9.90s at some track like Bay Town or No Problem in its current build ... eventually.

![]() ![]() ![]() jk ![]() It seems to me that all of this depends on the journey you want to go on. As already stated: if you want to play with the 1740 because you want to, do it! There are good points to be made on both sides. If you know you're going to end up trying to make 1000, and don't want to waste time, then maybe a 2650 is for you. But if you like to smell the roses along the way, why not stay with the 1740? If you run enough cooling (e.g. E' or meth, or both), then it doesn't seem like it should matter too much. If the possible loss of money or time doesn't matter, who cares? Go with what you like.

Please keep comments on topic. I'm sorry to those who were, but were replying to quoted bickering. If you can't help yourself from being unhelpful, please don't comment. Thanks to those trying to help.

But anyone who tries to tell me I’m doing it wrong will get an argument every time. I know exactly what I’m doing and I’ve said over and over and over….it’s not about the money. It’s about the journey. |
