Well in the terms of things like this. Other manufacturers are sorta locking down their vehicles. Like BMW with having you use a specific battery and have to spend another $150 or more to have the car know it has a new battery.

John Deere makes farm equipment that you have to take back to them and spending big money to do ANY type of fix to the vehicle vs taking it to the local work shop and spending a 1/4 of the money to fix it. Though thankfully the government is actually stepping in to put an end to this for the farmers.

Outside of that, Apple has been making it harder to fix iPhones and iMac, etc. To the point where of you just swap a battery between 2 brand new iPhones bought in the store, they will not work. Because every component is tied to that device.

Welcome to the world we live in where everyone is trying to control us from doing what we want.

Wait until electric vehicles take over. All the government or manufacturer will have to do is a over the air software update to screw us....

Yea you know what, some of you guys just want to be depressed and think negative. Like, y'all get off or something on thinking that everything is all doom and gloom. I have never been in such a group where everyone just wants to think that everything that ever happens spells doom for an entire money making industry. So go ahead. i swear, I am done commenting on these types of threads. Y'all want to sit in dark rooms crying about how terrible everything is, be my guest. In the meantime, people like myself will be out there finding new and different ways to make our cars go faster. Sorry life sucks soo bad for you guys. I hope you can find some solace in the troubled times headed your way.

if i could to LTs and cam maybe i wouldn't be so depressed and negative?

you got some pretty modded cars to be taking this angle so when are you going back to stock? because otherwise yea you are right, if you are not impacted by the BS currently makes more sense if you dont comment about how depressing it is.

and its not ALL doom and gloom, you will surely still be able to get your mud flaps, tail lights etc., what awesome stuff we get to look forward to.

I’m not concerned so much about these incremental changes then I am the whole aftermarket industry just saying f it and shutting down. There’s a point it won’t be worth it to them to take the risk on aftermarket parts (or a business case to even invest in r&d). That day will suck.

And all you will be able to buy are wheels and splitters.

Plenty of gains to be had while tuning around Emissions. Trans tuning alone is worth quite a bit. I can drop 3 tenths off stock A10 ZL1 with just trans tuning.

The other day I decided to license my 2017 Acadia AT 3.6 because I was tired of that stupid ass "flair torque management" they use on the A6 FWD transmission. It basically makes the 2-3 feel like a big slip shift. So I got rid of all that shit and cleaned up the shift points. Wouldn't be surprised if it picked up a decent amount.

Now on the engine side...not a lot to be gained unless you do mods other then a flex fuel tune.

Moral of the story is yes we can still make power with emissions equipment in place. It's not the end of the world. I could put GESI gen 2 back on my car and make it pass most states other then Commiefornia. No plans to ever step foot in that state anyway.

There are CARB legal blower kits. Edelbrock makes one for the LT1 and they make them for other platforms too. The kit comes with a tune that is CARB legal and can be flashed and will allow you to pass emissions.

what makes you think the EPA wont CA other states eventually? and it isnt just tunning here, you cant really do LTs or cam because they wont pass smog with a stock tune.

this is probably what i will end up doing, if their is ever a 2650 carb kit for the lt4 but it sure would be nice to have options.. also talk about overkill doing a 2650 on a car you cant cam or LT.

States are pushing back hard against fed bs. If you are in a red state I’d say you are fine at least in the short term (10-20yrs).

I’m in Indiana, we don’t have any of that emissions stuff. Don’t see that ever changing. With electric on the horizon it would kind of be a waste for the state anyways. What’s the point.

I've seen the lt1 kit but have yet to see the carb legal lt4 kit, thought last time I checked it was still in the process of approval. To me at this point, no going back so I'll have to figure out something in the next four years. I'm not gonna cry about it, this state is just getting more lame to deal with. My hopes are this level of smog bs doesn't find its way acrossed the country.

Wish they would implement some type of system like cap and trade for cars, ill buy some smog credits from the state and do whatever I want with my car...

It's funny some of you think that these emissions issues us in CA aren't going to to effect you soon. I, truthfully, hope it doesn't, but you guys say we're being all crazy about it won't be laughing soon enough...

100%

i want to move eventually to a free state too. its just that the likelihood of this bs spreading by then, i think it will be too late.

This is EXACTLY where I'm at...

I think the only "solution" is to drive the car as much as I can, while there is fuel, and I have a place to drive it.
