Got the thumbs up from a guy in a C7 I played around with at a couple stop lights. Girl in the passenger seat of an SI all smiles with the thumbs up as I came back down to speed limit and they passed. (Secretly thinking it was her bf driving & her wishing he had some of that American muscle haha) Couple of probably later 20-something year olds hovering as I walked out of work. "Oh, this your car?!"... Yup, all mine =D Goes to his buddy... here's your answer, dude... he was wondering who owned it. Chatted a little about his '11 SS. Salesman at work walking past, I open passenger window... ohh... this swede is niiiice...

Nothing but positive feedback for 2 weeks of ownership!

lol, I've gotten past the point of trying to apologize or justify myself to other people. When I told a former co-worker about my purchase, he kind of blew it off (drives a VW Golf R). We went to lunch recently and a Porsche was parked nearby. Knowing that he's a German car snob, I told him "I bet I can hang with that thing" (knowing I'd get a reaction). He started quizzing me about that specific Porsche's performance numbers as if he didn't think I knew what the car was capable of. In my response, I was actually off by about .02 seconds (quoted the 0-60 faster than it was) when we looked up the specs later. Then he mentioned that the Camaro couldn't keep up. I then sent him a link to the Camaro's stats, and Nürburgring times. For some reason, he never responded. And, I also didn't have the heart to bring up the fact that the Porsche, priced at near $110K, is a good $40K more than I spent on my Camaro. Oh well, not everyone has the same tastes which is fine. I wouldn't dare tell him to his face that I think his Golf R looks like a boy-racer go-kart to me, but that's just me.

here in sweden they love german crap. 99% of them buy them on finance with zero deposit aswell lol.
mostly fake here the entire society..99% of people are living in cloud cuckoo land and own nothing except the clothes on their backs. yet have very high opinions on cars and houses lol.
we own our house outright and all cars are ofc paid for in cash. something no swedes are capable of.

I have had my ZL1 cherry tint for about 2 months now. Other then one slightly drunk guy no one. not a soul has said a word one way or the other about my car. Around here anyway they are nothing cars no one cars. I have actually had more comments on my 2007 beater ford focus. It amazing to me how no one at all cares one way or the other about the Camaro , it is like it doesn't exist around these parts. we have gone to 2 cars and coffees with all the cars being photo'd coming in to the meet. No joke both times every car there was posted on the web site but my Camaro. This car is like some red headed step child. I wish someone on occasion would at least in passing say nice car.... but nothing. Even at gas stations other car guys pull up don't even look . They walk into store don't even send a glance my way.

A lot of it has to do with approachability. I know a lot of times I am generally in an irritated mood as I'm either pulling over after driving amongst the hodge podge of bad Dallas/Fort Worth drivers, or I have been sitting in line at Costco for gas and have just witnessed something moronic going on (mostly it's some dummy that won't move into an open pump and just sits there waiting for the entire line to clear). As for cars and coffee, do you have any modifications done to the car, specifically appearance mods? The "ZL1" badge of the Camaro does not have as much notoriety as say the Hellcat or the GT500. Hell, I consider myself a GM guy and I barely knew that the ZL1 is the top dog. I think given that GM has other badging on other cars, it can be confusing to the casual car person.

If it's any consolation, I've had a few compliments here and there and have a similar setup. I have probably had more people look the car up and down when I wasn't around though which goes back to my approachability. If the car makes you happy, then that's all that should matter.

Well, the inevitable happened. Decided to take the car into work again (Sunny Fridays are a good excuse, right?) and sure enough, a guy comes up to me while I'm working with another guy and asks "can I ask you a question?" I was expecting a job related question, but he was like, "Is that your Camaro?". I sheepishly acknowledged as I knew what came next. Got a little "schoolgirl gushing" out of him. The guy was really fawning which I always feel uncomfortable with as to me I feel as it's just a compliment of the car, should I feel proud of it? I didn't build or design it. What I also found amusing is that the guy turned to the guy I was helping and was like, "I told you it was his!" Lol, such an awkward feeling....
