Pontiac only had a small block engine design. The engine displacement is not what determined a big block or small block. The external dimensions of the engine are what determines big block or small block. The external dimensions of ALL Pontiac V8s from the 326 to the 455 were the same.

I guess it is splitting hairs, but the whole big block/small block thing is kind of a Chevy thing. Pontiac had one size block, that is true, but compared to a Chevy small block it was a lot bigger. The 326 Pontiac engine was a very inefficient package compared to a Chevy 327.

The pontiac 455 closer to dimensions of a Chevy 396 than a Chevy 327 small block.

It was not just a Chevy thing. Mopar had big blocks, Buick had big blocks, Cadillac had big blocks, Olds had big blocks, Ford had big blocks.

Pontiac did not have a big block.

Having hoisted a 400 out of a 77 T/A last weekend, I can tell you those old iron fukcers are heavy no matter what size they are.

Finally got around to watching the WSJ video.
Thanks, ember! Surprisingly, they did not address the Pontiac big block/never had a big block issue.

Anyway, in light of the ongoing shortage, Americans are projected to replace their smartphones at shorter intervals. That should help a lot.
