1 year Later
So I’ve return to Bangkok to pick up my baby. A few things to note. #1 and most importantly, the brake pads weren’t frozen to the rotors. I thought they would be cause everybody on this forum warned me of this. The humidity is so high in Bangkok, but so is the heat. No rust on the rotors at all. I sprayed as much of the rotor with lithium grease as possible before I left. So unfortunately, I had the 2 hour job of pulling every tire and wiping the grease off. Before pulling the tires, I hand pushed the car backwards. Shockingly it moved a few inches. Through the wheels I visually inspected the spot where the pad met the rotor for a year without movement, I realized that the pads were not only not frozen, there was no inkling of oxidation on the rotors at all. So then came the wheel pulling and 2 hour, hot and sweaty waste of time. It’s like 95 degrees with 80% humidity.
#2 After pulling the cords to the coil packs. I started the car for four 20 second intervals to get some oil running through the system. I replaced the coil packs and let it idle for 20 minutes. I couldn’t change the oil yet because the isn’t a facility to do it at here. It’s being changed now after idling around. The oil was new when I parked her. So I’m hoping the bit of idling I did to get to the car wash didn’t hurt the engine. #3 the suede interior didn’t fare so well with the humidity. It was starting to mold. All of it had to be cleaned, especially the steering wheel. #4 the fuel is obviously not good. I parked her with a loaded tank of 91 benzine, (that’s all they have here) with the proper dose of marine petrol stabilizer. I’m trying to idle this crap through the system so I can load her up with 91 with the proper amount of octanium from VP. That’s all that’s available here. Lastly, the suggestions about blocking the exhaust was really smart. Under the car cover was all kinds of bugs, lizards and small rodents. Thank God for the car cover; it was covered in crap. Can’t wait to flex fuel her. So I don’t have to worry about this fuel issue anymore. There is also a nice thing about Bangkok, besides the very sexy women, the ones that are women, they treat nice cars special at the mall and other mass parking spots, Supercar Parking Baby, just where a ZL-1 belongs. |

Maybe try a couple of those moisture absorbent packs in the interior next time it has to sit for a while? Tough situation.

That sucks about the moldy interior. Good suggestion above about adding a few desiccant packs if you ever have to store it again. Was it parked in a garage or outside for the past year? Where did you find the rodents and lizards? Glad other things went better, though. I thought the car was parked in that garage w/ the "Supercar Parking" sign for the past year - that would have been sweet. They look like super wide spots. What if someone in a regular car parks there? How do they determine what equals Supercar?

Good Idea….. I don’t plan to get deported again. This time I’ll read what the passport stamp says, no matter what ANY official says. Passport stamp trumps all.

This is a supervised lot, so you have to drive something not often seen, and usually very low to the ground. Although sometimes certain SUV (Porsche and up) are allowed in the spot.

Did the car cover trap moisture in the interior? The interior moisture on the suede is something I didn't know was a thing. Sorry for that mess, but cool comments on the rest of the experience.
