It does not drain all the oil, you get what was on top of the filter and a little bit of what is in the oil galley feeding the filter. Just like if you had drained the pan. the majority of the oil is in the pan, BELOW where the filter screws on to the mount.

you will get what oil is in the heat sink and cooler just like a standard filter change when you have drained the pan...no different than if you drain the pan first. How could it be any different? Oil isn't going to rush out of the pan through the filter boss or anything crazy. The filter sits higher than the pan and you might get 8-12oz of oil plus what's in the filter just like any other time.

Oil is changed often enough this isn't necessary imo.
