There is a separate section in the manual that speaks about the wrap, this section it strictly speaks about the hood extractor but I'm more at ease now that so many of you have and are doing this without any issues.

The thing is, I left, what I thought was tiny yellow pollen sit on the extractor for 2 weeks or so and when we did the detail there were 4 tiny circles left behind on the clearcoat which now leads me to believe it was possibly bird shit or something. You can't tell unless ur about 3 inches away looking at it but I I'd like to see if I wax if it will possibly cover those spots a bit. If it was infact bird shit it probably ate into the clear I understand that part bug wax/sealant help?

I would say a wax won't fix your problem (maybe a cleaner wax) but I would get a light polish and I am sure it will come right out.

I'll see what I can do.

If not would a paint correction be in order? It's really only touching the clearcoat anyway right?

Just don't want to **** it up over something that's not really visible. My ocd I guess. Lol

I put a little bit of turtle wax ceramic spray on the exposed weave extractor and haven't had any problems

I had an ECF extractor on my '13 ZL1 and also have one on my '17. I've clayed, polished and waxed the '13 with Adams Buttery wax and clayed, polished, and sealed with '17 with Reload. Early 5th gens with basic CF extractors were painted with flat and they were recommended to not wax, but I've never heard of an issue with cleared ECF.

OK so what I think they are referring to is high spots. If you was and or ceramic or seal a paint of any dark color you can get streaking (high spots) sometimes they are difficult to get out. If you have experience waxing and sealing and are aware of even coverage and high spots I don't think its a problem. I have sealed and ceramic my carbon inserts for every car I have had and I have never had a problem. My carbon hood extractor is waxed and sealed now and they is no issues. And i get that thing hot and it sits in the sun. As long as you know what you are doing I dont think its a problem at least I have never had one.
