Please don't pay $150k+ for that Z06 as you will be driving up the cost for the rest of us that need it to be $90k.
Yeah, I want to avoid that "having settled" feeling. Especially after dropping $100k on a car. That would suck.

Unfortunately, Z06 Markups are unavoidable.

I got to spend a lot of time in the car but they didn't let me drive it. These are my impressions.

1) The ergonomics are actually perfect for me. The length to the pedals and the length to the steering wheel actually fit my dimensions perfectly. I brought my track helmet with me and there was plenty of head clearance.

2) Visibility was fantastic. However, I don't like not being able to see the entire hood. You are definitely sitting in the car Go-Kart style.

3) Interior quality was excellent.

4) Z51 specs look decent. I would still invest $5G on some Coilover racing suspension and another $5G on some wheels that would allow me to run 295 in the front and 325-345 in the rear. So figure another $10G on top of the price.

5) The front of the car was high off of the ground so driveway clearance would be a non-issue. That's a plus and I'd probably leave it that way for the track.

I will still have to reserve final judgement for a test ride and that trip to the Corvette Museum is knocking at the door so I can get some track laps.

This particular dealer is selling new orders for MSRP with a 12-18 month wait. However, they are marking up used inventory. This low mileage (1,000 miles) was about $25k markup. They were asking $115k and they paid $105k for the car. I would pay markup on the Z06 but won't move on this one (2LT fully loaded with Z51).
I want to love the C8 Stingray styling but it is just ok to me. I was hoping the looks would grow on me.

I just couldn't stomach paying over MSRP for this car. You know in a few years, once everyone waiting bought one they will sell for under MSRP. I bought my last 2 C7s for 15-20% off MSRP.

I'm inclined to agree in the case of the Stingray. I don't think the Z06 will take a blow, especially if it's a sub 7min Nurburgring car.

Yeah, the Z06 value will stay strong since the Corvette brand is going upmarket now that it is mid-engine. However, there will be more variants. I heard twin turbos, electrification, etc. So, the Z06 is just the next step. Once these other trims get released and the supply chain improves the Stingray is going to come back to earth from a pricing perspective.

I just read used car values are starting to drop already as inflation takes hold.

I had one, 46 years old, no tupe, no velcro shoes or white New Balance as the stereotype goes.
I have the New Balance shoes still lol. I’m dating myself. You got me. And for the record I don’t hate on any car.

No problem, I just hear this stereotype all the time when it comes to Corvettes. I've owned 4 of them in my lifetime, and I'm 46 now, I owned my first one when I was 19. I've certainly seen some old men driving them for sure, especially convertibles, but there's a fair share of younger men that drive them too. Maybe its the older men that stand out more like obese people driving Miata's. It does seem like when it comes to car shows, older men show up more with their Corvette's so I'm sure that contributes to the stereotype.

I’m the same. I can’t see paying over MSRP for many cars. Maybe a very special something. A regular corvette, these things are a dime a dozen now. Z06’s will be the same in a couple years. None of these are rare cars that will retain their values. Just go look at a c7, c6, c5. All can be had for pretty cheap. Heck C5’s are cheaper than sn95 mustangs these days. 4th Gen fbodies cost as much as c6’s. Just my opinion. I won’t be in the market for a c8 until I can get one close to invoice.

All stereotypes are based on statistics, implicit or explicit. This doesn't make them completely true, of course, it just means those who experienced the bell of the curve will keep perceiving them as such.

If anything, less older owners and more younger owners are buying the C8. The C8 doesn’t do much for me and I am 69 and previously owned 4 Corvettes. The C8 screams “look at me”. The ZL1 is understated. I prefer to go with a subtle design and looks. This is why my next car will soon be a CT5 V Blackwing.

Now, now, now...Let's keep the age discrimination to a minimum.

My buddy's '66 427 Corvette with side-pipes and Hurst shifter is what got me into cars at the ripe old age of 20. However, it took 48 years before I owned my first one. Somehow marriage, children, home purchases, college tuition, weddings, and job all interfered with buying one at a much younger age.

You see a lot more older folks in Corvettes because it's usually later in life when they finally have some disposable income to buy car more for pleasure than for need.

Probably not as long as you think. But I’m fine with that. Everyone using this covid bs as a reason to say shortages and drive up prices. We are 2 years out and that song is getting old. Everyone has been back to work for a while, there aren’t shortages. It’s all by design. Already a couple industries been busted for price fixing and collusion in the past year. More will be coming.

Everyone is not back at work. I don't think it's because of COVID infections but people simply aren't willing to work today. COVID just started it. Supply chain issues are real. There's no legit reason why auto manufacturers want to sell less cars.
