Before my MINI I only owned Mustangs ('65,'91 GT vert), Trans Ams ('77,'79) and Camaros ('86 IROC, '00 Z28), but I always planned on getting back into a V8 eventually. I only ever looked at the Challenger simply for comparison sake. They come in a lot of cool colors and configurations, but I didn't want a muscle car that only goes in a straight line. I considered a Mustang after I drove a GT as a rental 4 years ago. It was a really nice car (even though it was an auto) but I have never really liked the Ford interiors, so I wasn't completely sold (especially since a GT350 is out of my price range). But as I started getting closer to actually making my decision I still had never driven any newer Camaro, but any time I saw one on the street I knew that was what I wanted...especially when it was a SS 1LE. The 1LE just looks like it belongs on a track, and it can hang with cars costing 2-3 times as much. So I put an order in having never actually driven one. Then I found a used '18 manual 1LE at at dealer and took it for a test drive, and I knew I made the right decision the moment I started it up. Once around the block and I was hooked. Now it's just a matter of time...

In my opinion the Camaro is the best bang for the buck out there right now, especially the SS 1LE. I never considered a Challenger. It's too big and heavy for my tastes. The only Mustang I would currently consider is the GT 350. I almost bought one several years ago, but now that Ford has stopped making them, finding a good used one isn't easy and they typically cost more than my new 1LE.

Although I used to have a 2006 C6 Z51, the Camaro is only my second V8 sports car. I'm used to smaller Zs and BMWs. I was ready for something new and the Camaro best fit the bill in the current marketplace. It's a great combination of power and handling.

tested the mustang and felt like i was sitting too high(had been driving a pontiac solstice so i was used to low seating).didnt want a dodge because on of my friends had a brand new one burn in his driveway.the camaro is comfortable and quiet,a perfect old mans beach cruiser.

always been a bowtie fanboy. felt that the gen5 engine built on a lot of gen3/4 principles, and i'm familiar with those. the mustang transmission woes were not inviting, at all. this one was a street car that i wanted to stay na and at that point there was no other choice. enter the ss 1LE - the rest is history.

Same here. The SS 1LE is the performance bargain of the century. I have a ZL1 now and although it is a big jump up in price, it is still a fantastic performance bargain.

There are no other cars on the market that offer this level of performance at this price point. Maybe the C8 in 1LT trim with a Z51 but that will cost $70k+ MSRP with a 12 month wait and doesn't have the raw visceral power of the LT4.

Interior and not being a Ford.

On serious note - I already have Charger, so Challenger would be way too similar. And Mustang has something which makes me look away. Maybe OHC? Smaller engine, not muscle enough? And that I really have working on Fords, so long term ownership is out of the picture.

Ummm, what's garbage about Dodges inside quality? I think quality is spot on. It just looks dated. They just add HP, new colors and wheels - That's the main pita about Dodge. You want them, because of HP, sound and kick ass ads, but then you remember headlights are shit, and interior is million years old. They updated Durango, but didn't give a f... about Charger. They seem to treat it like 4 door Challenger, instead of family sedan with huge engine.

Always just preferred the Camaro. I had owned a Camaro most of the time and just preferred them. I had "Company Cars" that were both Ford and Dodge. The Crown Vics were slow but durable. The Charger was quick but a POS. My last was a AWD Explorer. Not a lot of issues. Guess what I did for a career. Now in a 22 ZL1 because I can't/won't pay the BS C8 markups.

no interest in dodge. hate the styling. owned a few mustangs. ended up despising them.
for me there is only 2 contenders for an american muscle car for me.
our camaro's and a corvette. the vette is too hard for me to get in and out of.
i hate all german cars with a vengence. hate those stupid audi combi things.
for me it's only the camaro. owned 3 up to now and loved each one of them

yep the seating position in those things is dire. you sit on the things not in them and then get flung about the cabin when driving.. utterly terrible cars.

I couldn't get a sunroof in a Mustang, so I bought a Camaro.

Camaro preference

The Camaro 2SS 6.2 torque was splendid the look is so cool, the seats were comfortable, gas mileage was amazing in the Camaro. The dodge has no convertible, gas mileage is terrible in the hemi. The mustang has very little torque, every body has one. GM offered zero % interest plus GM took $5000 off the suggest manufactures price. The exhaust is personalizeable (NPP) It was love at first sight.

The Challenger looks too retro for me and is a one trick pony, the Mustang front end is so hideous it's an instant dealbreaker, along with its bulbous body shape—but far more important than these was that I fell in love, hook, line and sinker with the Camaro's amazingly well designed exterior (2016-2018), interior (for the most part) and its sublime handling. The power is very nice, too, but the other two platforms now have even more of that from the factory.
