Test fit and road test VMS 17x10 wheels and 305 45 17 MT ET street R's

Test fit and road test VMS 17x10 wheels and 305 45 17 MT et street R's today. The wheels and tires fit perfect, so nice to be able to use the OE conical seat lug nuts. Got about 5 miles of road heat on the tires with 20 psi and they hook great on the street. Traction control off and these tires do not want to spin. I am only about 425 rwhp, but I could never jump on it from a dig like I can now. Should only be better at the track. Oh yeah, these are on my 2021 LT1 10 speed auto car.

Two Questions:

1. Any wire harness rub issue?

2. At what point do we need to worry about the drive line. Everyone has told me not to use stickies on my car. I assume it is when you get closer to 600rwhp, but it had me thinking "Ok, do not use stickies at all until I blow $5000 on a rear end upgrade?"

Which is it?

The wheel has 7.25 inches of back space and the tire is 28.0 inches tall allowing for plenty of room inside the wheel house all around the tire. The only time I would worry about rear end or drive shaft issues is if I had a manual trans. I would think the rear end should hold up to repeated 60 foot times in the 1.6s with a auto trans car .

I hope you have better luck than I had with Mickey. I just got rid of mine after a couple of days around town and one day at the track. They wobbled/vibrated like crazy at straight line speed and are scary in even the slightest turns. But there's a lot of people who have success with them, so...

Thank you and I hope I have no issues. My tires took more weight than I would have liked 4 oz on one and 3.5 oz on the other. I would have thought the balance issue from a while back on MT was under control. The tires felt good on the street during normal driving and 20psi even once when I leaned into a corner a bit. And yes, a lot of people have success with them , I hope I will feel the same.

Plenty of owners with automatic SS models have used DRs with bolt-ons and the stock driveline. Seems that only a few have reported breaking an SS driveshaft with just bolt-ons.

Shouldn't ever see any issues rubbing with the 305 45 17 at just about 28 inches. I and many others have run them on 10 to 10.5 inch wheels and worked great. There are some running the 325 50 15s, not sure if they've moved the harness with that tire or not. Its real close to the same diameter of the 305.

That's what I was wondering. I figure with my low rwhp it might not be an issue
