Chemical Guys Products
Anyone using Chemical Guys products? How do you like them? I'm thinking of getting a number of their products (foam guns, cleaners, towels, buckets, etc) for maintaining the exterior of my Camaro and other cars. Any other brand recommendations?

for mf towels i use rag company for washing my car, and i use a griots PFM for drying. these are great if you want the best towels. buckets i just got three from home depot. I do the method were I have a bucket with clean soap water with 12-14 micro fibers. each towel is folded 4 times so you get 8 seperate sections on a towel, use one towel per panel so no dirty towels or mitts touch the car. I have a bucket for my "dirty" towels after they are used, and i have a bucket for wheels. all this stuff just depends how into it you want to get. i enjoy detailing so for me i dont mind spending more money on products that do a better job. i use carpro reset for my soap. it is super concentrated so this will last you years. my car is ceramic coated, so i do not want any waxes, etc., in my soap. https://www.amazon.com/CarPro-Reset-.../dp/B00MLG4CX2 I use this as a drying aid. good gloss, good slickness. https://www.877askxtreme.com/store/p...yvd58rjwqstiqr I like this for a rinseless, or waterless wash. Also works great as a quick detailer if the car isnt very dirty or clay lube. Also super diluted, have had my bottle for a year and a half and not even used a fifth of it. same as the soap, no added waxes etc. https://www.amazon.com/McKees-37-Rin...8N845CMJ&psc=1 what are you specifically looking for? |

Chemical guys is my main go to mfg, love all their stuff
I also have products from Sonax, Adams and many more but mostly one offs. For instance I only use Sonax alcantara cleaner on my interior pieces and P&S brake buster is one of the best bang for the buck wheel cleaners I have ever used Microfibers I use the gold pack from Costco, things work awesome and last a long time even with multiple washings Ceramic I only use Gtechniq, their consumer grade products give incredible results

IMO the best CG products are their concentrated cleaners and degreasers. Often you can find them on sale via Amazon. I use their All Clean citrus cleaner as a general purpose cleaner including around the house, it works great and is very economical. Also recently got their concentrated fabric cleaner, works great on the synthetic suede or Alcantara used on steering wheels, shifters, etc.
For detail sprays and carwash soaps, etc. Carpro also offers some concentrated products that are a good deal, I've went with ceramic products over waxes, it's so quick and easy as you can just use a carwash soap with ceramics and then never have to wax your car again. I don't like detailing as I have my own business and don't have the time so using these ceramic based washes and detail sprays saves me a lot of time. I recently got some turtle wax ceramic wash and wax, and it's very similar to Carpro Hydro2foam. EDIT: I'm sure the newer CG ceramic washes and sprays are just fine, but haven't tried them yet. I have a few years worth of product from buying Carpro and the Turtle Wax wash... lol.

I am a fan of Griots products. For spray detail I use Speed Shine and Ceramic Speed Shine. Instead of wax, 3 In 1 Ceramic. For a drying agent, Spray On Wax. For the interior I just recently used Pinnacle Black Label Leather & Vinyl Coating. It does a fantastic job.

I have tried the matte detailer, interior cleaner, and the honeydew snow foam. I like the snow foam and its at my local store for reasonable money. Definitely works better and is slicker than Megs Gold Class. Not super impressed with the CG Matte detailer. Its ok but I'll try something else next time. The interior cleaner in the blue bottle works about as good as others I've tried and I like the smell.
I use/used a variety of other products from Carpro, Sonnax, 3D, Adam's etc etc. I sure wouldn't empty my wallet out on everything from one company and product selection depends on application. If I were making money detailing I might be selecting products differently. For my 1LE money and efficiency is less of a concern than user experience and overall results. Some of the CG stuff is ok, but I think they spend more time marketing their products than perfecting them. I almost never see any advertising from other brands with products that are well regarded in the detailing community. Good products sell themselves.

Tires, rubber trim, etc. I absolutely love Carpro Perl at different dilutions based on application. I'll always have a bottle of it on my rack.

I like what I've tried, tire/wheel cleaners and tire dressing (Tire Kicker) I like it, it's fine, no better than anything else you can get at ChinaMart with major brand names like Meguiars or Mother's products.

Adam's, American Detailer Garage, heck Griots isn't bad for off the shelf polishes. I am on a couple detailer pages and this subject comes up regularly.

The Wife bought me there starter kit from Amazon and I have since added more as I have a Detail Garage store right down the street from me. There employees have always been helpful and knowledgeable for me so I have had good luck with there products. I'm no professional detailer at all but when I'm done the car is clean and shiny so works for me.
I have pretty much everything you listed above.

I'm a fan of CG's products overall. I will say, im not a fan of how redundant some of their products are. Specially now they are making all their products have some type of "hydro" version. So knowing what you need is important. Are there other quality brands out there...sure. Adam's, carpro, 303, ect. but there is a detail garage store by me so I go there.
My car is ceramic coated to i just use their hydro line products. My wifes SUV isn't and short of the soap, I just use the same stuff from my car on hers. the plus of ceramic coating is I don't really use a drying towel, just a leaf blower but ill use a detail spray after if needed. My best advise, ask questions, do research on products and don't be afraid to ask questions. The biggest thing i learned was to make sure the item is CLEAN before you add a dressing. And to also wipe off the excess, just don't let it set with a glob of product on there. |
