Tow Hook ACCESS question

I currently run the STOCK Tow hook which requires you to leave the tow hook cover OFF to allow access thru the grill because of the LARGE diameter of the STOCK Tow Hook.

IF I were to use a tow hook like the ZL1 ADDONS one, would that allow me to keep the tow hook cover installed since the shaft diameter that goes thru the grill is so much smaller?? Have any of you guys tried that???

Oh interesting…. There is a cover for the tow hook hole on your car? My ZLE doesn’t have one, and I was able to try out the OEM tow hook without first removing anything.

Well since I have a SS, the grill is different I guess. The part number for the tow hook cover is 84112297. PIC of it is FIRST pic below. The second pic is what the grill looks like WITHOUT the tow hook cover with the tow hook installed. I dont like the way the grill looks with that hole when the cover is NOT installed The PROBLEM with the way GM designed the cover is that the TOP grill bar lines up almost perfectly DEAD CENTER on the toe hook hole. There is a LITTLE flex with the grill bar but not enough to move enough to let that big assed thick stock tow hook thru so that it can screw into the receptacle hole. I will call ZL1ADDONS tomorrow and asked them about this. I would hope they would know or should know. I will update this post at that time

Wow, yeah I agree the grill doesn’t look great with that cover off, almost looks like something is broken.

Good luck on finding a solution!

I don't think you can run the aftermarket tow hook with the grill cover in place...at least when it's stock. I just recently saved a Facebook thread where the OP ground out a divot in the top grill bar so he can use the tow hook while keeping the grill cover in place. Hopefully that link works for you so you can see what he did.

Well after talking to ZL1ADDONS , I believe you are correct regarding using the STOCK unmodified tow hook cover.

That is EXACTLY what I was looking for MSQUARED!!! I think I will go and buy myself a new dremel tool with a small cutter for this mod. THANKS for the post!!!
The PICS below are from LUAN's post on FACEBOOK link mentioned above. Thanks to him as well for the info.
