Best modifications to safely increase power in 1LT V6
Hey everybody, I just got my 1LT V6 not too long ago and I’ve already done a few cosmetic modifications, now I’m focusing my attention to power. I’ve seen all kinds of suggestions but I’m not sure what to do due to the pros and cons of some modifications. I’m not looking to drag race this thing at a strip, I just want better throttle response and more noticeable available power. I appreciate all the advice, I’m just not sure where to start to be honest.

Tuning will provide the best results, but could void your warranty in some cases. Otherwise things like exhaust, intake and throttle body will be your next best choice

Here's a short list of what I've done that makes it significantly more nimble that won't throw a cell:
1. Soler performance 80mm throttle body and throttle controller ($475) 2. JacFab LGX ported intake manifold ($475) 3. K&N intake ($375) 4. Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust ($600) 5. Overkill Tune ($500) 6. 275/35R20 front and rear tires ($2,000) 7. ZL1 1LE aero mods ($1,000) Total: $5,425 Free things to make it feel nimble would be driving with 1/3 tank of gas (gas weighs ~6 lbs a gallon), cutting the bottom portion of the stock air box out and turning traction control and stabilitrak off. I can run a 5-60 in about 4.4 seconds with this. Probably faster now since I installed the manifold a few weeks ago and haven't ran numbers yet.

Have either of you noticed any negative effects of doing those mods? I’m not worried about the warranty, more so the care of the car overall I guess. I live in AZ so it gets pretty hot here, not sure if that has an impact. Don’t want to blow my engine lol

No negative effects for me. If you properly install the components, and don't beat on your car, you should be fine.

No idea. Haven't done one in years and that was on my old car. Guess I'll have to take it somewhere and find out.

I’m currently looking into gen 6 used V6 in hyper blue. That’s positive news to hear that your Camaro hasn’t had any issues at 113,000 miles at least with the powertrain. I’m curious does this powertrain in the automatic version have any issues or is it known for any issues at a certain mileage?

The AFM went out at around 70k miles. Was about a grand to fix. One of the rear shocks was leaking and replaced at 86k miles, cost about $450. Hub bearing needed to be replaced. Another $450. Thermostat was replaced at 90k miles. $500 for that. Other than that no issues. Car is regularly maintained and probably over serviced. For the $2,500 in issues that I've had the car I can't complain. Purchased it at 40,000 miles about 3 years ago (I drive a lot). Averages out to $800 in issues a year which is a lot better than my Mercedes.
Hard to tell what other issues may arise as time goes on but thankfully the car is pretty reasonable to fix.

Next, to make any significant power upgrades, you have 2 choices for the v6: either a supercharger (procharger or Edelbrock) or nitrous oxide. Those little bolt ons you have been suggested by others will do little to nothing to increase power. If you are serious at all about drag racing, either open up your wallet big time to address the lack of traction and power of your v6, or open up your wallet big time to trade up to a v8 which addresses both your traction and power issues. |

bench racing/dynoing but going with a :
throttle body, intake, cai, axle back and tune are we looking at like 40rwhp gain? say a stock dyno is about 285rwhp, could a 2020 make 325 ish to the wheels? also can you still run 87 gas on this?
