IATs 1, 2, 3...

Can anyone tell me what the 3 IATs represent and where there measured on a boosted camaro SS I installed the Banks Idash guages and ZZ pod and just want get them correctly labeled.

Logically

IAT 1 would be some where near the air inlet of the air filter.

IAT 2 maybe by the MAF or by the TB somewhere

IAT 3 Map sensor

They all 3 read on my guages

Here’s a lot of reading and data for those IAT’s.

What's more confusing is sometimes GM switches back-and-forth to what reading they use. I think early C7 LT4s didn't use MAT but IAT or something like that. I know MATs are extrapolated from several other inputs, and I believe MATs are what ZL1s use, but I'm not certain. I'd verify for your year. HPTuners will probably be the best source for that.

Hopefully a tuner steps in its been hard getting a hold of mine.

I'm doing the same guages on my ZL1 but a carbon pillar pod and I'm gonna use wideban haltech can bus to drive the Banks Idash.

I can log with these guages I want to see what iats are with my ice box setup then I'm going to install the chiller I've had for a while and see how well it works.

To make it more complicated, as far as HPTuners goes, there are also SAE and non-SAE channels, too, which can have a different "fidelity". I'm not sure how Banks does it. I'm pretty sure the MAT is a good signal and is what the ECM references. I think it starts at the MAF sensor, then there is another IAT sensor, and then the MAT. I have to see if I can find that though.

It's an old thread but I am posting this here as well for those trying to set the right parameters to follow on their gauges:

IAT1 = Temperature measured at the MAF sensor (real data)
IAT2 = There is no IAT2 sensor, it is a calculated value derived from ECT and IAT1 (not real data)
IAT3 = MAT (real data) - PID used for blower temperatures

So it seems that it makes sense to monitor IAT1 and IAT3 (MAT). I don't see any use of monitoring IAT2, unless I am missing something.

Thanks for clarifying this KingLT1. Yes I was talking about the ZL1.

IAT 1 is on your stereo screen mine go hand and hand with outside temp unless you sit idle then once moving its back down to outside temp. I see no reason to log it. you can get in a long complicated battle with rotofab, cold air inductions, and Varram about it IAT pulling timing up to 5 degrees or so until you start moving..

anything that obdII reports like all the map temps seem to read the same the same as the IATs once you see which are the same that are just worded differently. In other words I have the IDASH gauges and I can toggle through all the map temps then toggle back to IATs temps and see which are which all this is in the temp section on the gauge.
