absolutely useless to add a cold air intake unless you do other supporting mods. Zero performance gains as a stand alone .Proven many times over in various tests.

That was mostly tongue in cheek as I remember the whole "sticker" craze by people that wanted to advertise their "V-TAK YO!" As for a CAI on a FI engine, I was a part of the debate back in 2004 when I got my first pocket rocket, a 2004 Saturn Ion Redline. While it is not nearly the monster that the ZL1 is, it was also a SC performance engine (LSJ). I always thought that the CAI that I had installed gave the vehicle a little more throttle response, and the SC whine was intoxicating. It's funny seeing the same arguments against it. I guess what people don't understand is that just because you don't see a large spike in peak HP, it doesn't mean that there aren't gains. Give me an engine that has a healthy torque curve over one that just has a higher peak HP number any day, and a CAI or free-er flowing intake is going to improve the entire band, not just give you a high peak HP number. I don't have access to an airport runway to enjoy peak HP numbers anyways. Just an FYI, (which I'm sure would be up for debate as well) I'm actually considering dropping off my car with Lingenfelter and letting them install one of their packages. I know that some people will insist that it's not worth the costs, but the way I see it is I'll get the power gains that I want, warranty intact (from Lingenfelter), and when these shops go by the wayside with market share for ICE shops waning, I'll have a one of a kind vehicle. Interestingly enough, I put a Lingenfelter labeled (most likely a 3rd party) CAI on my 06 GTO. I've been interested in their builds ever since they started tweaking Corvettes. |

That's what's great about statistics. You can usually massage the data to prove or disprove your point!

Question: I was thinking of installing a CAI on my stock ZL1 specifically because I have seen people post that it increases the supercharger whine. Is this part true? That alone would be worth it for me.
I am actually a bit jealous that the SC noise in a hellcat is so much more noticeable than from my ZL1.

Yes, it will increase your ability to hear the SC whine. Its not a significant difference, but it is noticeable.

You can definitely hear the engine sucking air with the Roto-Fab installed. I don't know about gains, I definitely feel the car responding better (maybe it's placebo effect as Camaro1973 said, or maybe the gains are spread throughout the torque curve), but it sounds and looks great. If you ask me, yeah go on and install one.

What is the sound tube delete option? What's the purpose to that? I know CAI don't really do much, but they look cool as hell.
