Continuing the saga...

I started contacting other dealers in my area to see if any had projected allocations in the next 4 weeks. I have some leads that think they will and a couple dealers that said they will let me know each Wed if they get one.

I also found a dealer in NJ near NYC that had an LT1 order accepted with TPW in April who said they could modify the order to match my build as long as they got the change in today. I was pretty excited to be able to latch on to an existing, accepted order, until they told me they wanted a $5,995 market adjustment added to the MSRP! Fifty-Freaking-Nine-Ninety-Five!!! No thanks.

Here's the latest update.

Still sitting at 1100 last week, and as mentioned in my last post, I decided to contact 5 other dealers "near" me, which I chose based on their current inventory/in-transit hoping that the more cars they have the higher the volume they sell and the more allocations they would have.

Dealer 1: Said they have more orders than allocations but directed me to another location owned by the same group that had allocations. This dealer promptly took my order and said it would get in the system the next day but was vague about allocations. After 4 days of poor communication and no confirmation of an order number or allocation, I got my deposit back today.

Dealer 2: Told me that they would let me know Wed (yesterday) if they had allocations. Promptly contacted me Wed morning and said they have 2 allocations but 4 orders ahead of me but thought maybe the other orders would have constrained components and they could put mine in. Excellent communication and honest, but couldn't get me in.

Dealer 3: Told me they have 5 orders and 1 allocation. Honest, but of no help.

Dealer 4: The dealer I already mentioned in my previous post who wanted a $5995 Market Adjustment.

Dealer 5: Told me they would let me know early this week if they had an allocation. I didn't hear anything and figured they were a dead end until I got an e-mail today that they submitted my order and it has an allocation. I couldn't believe it so I checked GM chat and it says "Your vehicle order has been accepted by General Motors and is moving toward the production process." And Joe confirmed it's at 2000 status. Hooray!

Now I have to call my original dealer and break the news to them.

Moral of the story...
Find a bunch of dealers near you
Use their dealership web site to look up the e-mail address of a sales manager, not a regular salesperson.
Mass e-mail all of them and tell them exactly what you want.
Tell them you only want your order placed if they have an allocation.
Also, search Chevy inventory just in case your dream car shows up somewhere.

It's a lot of work, but I was able to get an order accepted within a week of mass e-mailing dealers while my original order was still at 1100 after 97 days.

This! It was my experience too and so if no constraints then from ordering to collection was 3.5 months, the last month of which in transit given I'm about as far from Lansing as anyone...

Yep pays to shop around weed out the bs and get what you want. Back in November my NY local dealer wanted 5k markup to put order in, told them i am walking out the door and going to buy one in stock in Ohio at msrp they said nothing they could do this was a saturday, by monday 10 am i was driving my Zl1 home

Had I understood or new this in Dec. 21, I might already be driving an new 2SS.

Well, that wasn't fun.

I called the original dealer to cancel the order. First thing my salesman said was "Your order is accepted and going to be produced in the next couple weeks". I said, "Chevy chat says it's NOT accepted". He said he'd call me back. He called back and said "Yeah, we have an allocation for next week for your car". Wow, that's not remotely the same as already accepted to be produced next week. He was pretty angry that I wanted to cancel my order....ended up hanging up the phone on me. Which is ironic considering the amount of misinformation they've given me, including the first thing he told me today when I called.

Now we'll see if they fight me over the deposit....I had to e-mail about that since he hung up the phone on me.

Sales manager was much kinder than the salesman. Deposit refunded.

Post the salesman's name here and put them on blast, nobody should try to get into a deal with such an unprofessional and lying POS.
