For the tuning gurus out there....Datalogged the car for about 10 mins briefly.

Tuner had the following comments:

Bank 1 (Drivers side) is showing signs of over fueling on decel. When the engine goes into decel both banks go rich briefly followed by bank 2 going back to normal while bank 1 stays in an enrichment state.

You can see bank 1 (circled in yellow) is adding 14.8% fuel while bank 2 (circled in red) is subtracting 0.8%. These should really be following each other. You can see this in the graph section (circled in pink). Bank 1 (purple) flatlines at 908 millivolts while bank 2 (light blue) falls back into the closed loop oscillation sequence.

I can't really put my finger on what causes this but I can say it's not normal. I tune 5-6 of these weekly and never see this type of behaviour.

Thoughts?

Regarding the ZL1/Viper comparison.

There is no comparison.

The Viper is on another level of braking and grip. The ACR-E makes 2000 lbs of downforce at speed. The Camaro makes 300. The lateral G in the Viper, even with DOT tires, is beyond belief. The Viper is a no sh*t race car with A/C and a back up camera.

Drag race is pretty even. Would come down to driver's ability to launch and skill with the 6 speeds. Viper is a tad lighter with a more tire but the Camaro makes more power and torque and shifts beautifully quick.

On the street.....they both suck but the Viper is on another level of terrible. A 200 mile road trip in the Viper would be like getting a tooth drilled and a prostate exam at the same time...

My Cobra rides better than both of them....

I am not sure if this helps but I had a similar experience tracking my ZL1 at COTA. I arrived with close to 3/4 tank of fuel and had to fill up 2 more times for 5 20-minute sessions. I also have the AWE touring (no resonators). My reflectors on my diffuser disintegrated after the second session. The license plate lights went from flat to drooping. the Chevrolet emblem on the trunk was deformed and both taillights have signs of warpage. 1 day after the track day my engine check light came on indicating an issue on bank 1 (Catalyst System below threshold Bank 1). The dealer tried to address the issue 3 times. 1- replaced O2 senser, 2- Replaced Cat, 3- replaced clamp to cat (all bank 1). Every time I got my car back the problem returned within 5 miles of driving. I took it to a local muffler shop and had the exhaust to cat welded. No more engine check light since. To be safe I also moved the 4'5" exhaust tips as far aft as possible. All melted parts have been replaced. I have not been back to the track since but hoping for a better outcome next time.

Sounds 90% the same. When you say you had the exhaust welded at the cat, please provide details. Also, has your repair mitigated the heat issue?

Thank you,

JM

Hi JM,

See pictures. In my earlier post I stated I have not taken the car back to the track since so I am not sure if my repair to the exhaust plus adjustment of the AWE exhaust tips aft addressed the problem yet. (FYI: The exhaust tips were installed flush with the aft edge of the diffuser before moving them as far aft as possible.) The exhaust tips are now aprox, 2.5 inches aft of the diffuser.Name: Cat1.jpg

Diamond,

Thanks for the pics. Understand. Please reach out if possible once you get a good track day.

Thanks,

JM
