I heard some stories that most shops won't work on McLarens. I also wouldn't want to have to DD one of those cars. Those cars are not meant for DD stuff. They're meant to take out a couple times a month with the mistress or babysitter. Plus those cars, even tho they are ultra fast, they are not really modifiable. What you get is what you get and you're stuck with it and that is all. So I wouldn't be happy in a car like that.

I did come across the Jaguar F-Type R AWD. That and the C-Class AMG 63 S and M5 are about as "exotic" as I'll go.

Plenty of mods for 720S and they are more user friendly than you think. Downpipes and tune occur a lot.

Anyway, just relaying actual owner experience who have been down similar paths as you. I wouldn't buy a DCT car that has known issues with the trans at that cost of replacement. Ford also does not warranty track use.

M5 CS seems like a really nice car. Chris Harris bought one...

I'm not wealthy. I don't think it's a good idea to blow the warranty on a car that costs like $350,000. And I doubt anyone would be interested in a used 720S that has a toasted warranty. So that is a no go for someone in my shoes. Plus like I said, it is not a car that I would want to DD.

Now if I ever get to the point where I'm making a little bit more money, then perhaps I'd consider it. Maybe in a few years.

On this train of thought (taking a slight detour to Philosophyville), I'm at a point in my life where I wouldn't even want to buy a car for $350-400K or even more. They're at the exponential right side of the price/value curve where minuscule improvements jack the price up by massive amounts.

What I can't help thinking about is how much more difference one could make with that price delta in others' lives, when all it'd do for me is a "wow, I have a 720S" that lasts a week or so. I'm not sure this exotic would do even that much for you, Blaq.

I don't know about BlaqWhole, but my car will never see a track day.
It looks like Ford does honor warranty for the GT500 though:

https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...to-a-racetrack

The vast majority of 20'+ GT500's aren't having DCT/trans issues and if they do warranty will cover it.

Looking at BlaqWhole's signature, it seems he likes to modify all his cars. I'd be weary about modding the GT500 because the powertrain is so expensive to deal with. The great thing however is the GT500 is quite satisfying out of the box imo.
Ported blower, injectors, headers, smaller pulley you're running around 150mph in the 1/4 so maybe worth the risk

So I decided to buy one. Heck, life's short. And I figure, since everything's going EV soon anyway, I might as well go out with a bang owning the three top trim Pony Cars.

Congrats Blaq. I wonder how long S650 will go without a GT500/Cobra level option. Current rumours are that the 1st high performance option above the GT level will be a new Boss. . . 307?

Yup, that is exactly what it is. I was going to see if I could find a Base without the Handling Package for a bit cheaper. But they all had more miles...one had a Lemon Law Buyback...and these guys actually got my price to what a Base without HP would have been. So I'd say it was a decent deal at the very least.
