Not really so much naysaying as just looking at it realistically. We have a hard time keeping up with demand where I live, and no genuine plans for upgrading at this time. Like has been stated, they're actually going the other way and shutting down some of the platforms that our grid depends on. That's the biggest concern I see, but there are others.

and they control it also...last time they were asking people to leave their thermostats on 55 to conserve electric, i got home and my nest (owned by google) had turned itself on a setting i'd never put it on, and my xbox (microsoft) also turned itself off.

neither is a big deal, but it reveals the direction this is heading. scary af

You are worried that the extra costs will be passed on to the consumer right? Bu as more and more people switch that as gas becomes less and less needed, the prices per gallon will likewise increase dramatically. Those costs are gonna get passed onto the fuel consumer too. So basically you're gonna be paying the same amount if not more and you'll end up looking and traveling farther and farther to source fuel. And it most likely won't be 91 or 93 octane, it'll be 87. What then? Are you gonna start driving V6s and 4 cyl turbos? Or what if they outlaw gas powered vehicles altogether?

None of that has anything to do with the grid not being adequately equipped at present to handle an influx of demand. You asked what those of us who were having a discussion to that point are going to do and i provided my answer. You are off on a whole new tangent now. It sounds like you are just looking for an argument. I’ve provided my perspective on the grid vulnerability based on my experience in that sector. Take it or leave it. Have a great day.

Lol, I'll leave it. I see a bright exciting future full of possibilities. But hey, some people prefer to sulk. You do you. Sorry you have such a bleak outlook.

But in all reality, 10 years from now you'll all be on here talking about how awesome your fully loaded EVs are and how fast they are and you'll all be singing praises. And I'll just come back to these posts and just laugh when the grid is working perfectly and all is good. See ya in the future. Just remember how negative you were about it all when you're proven incredibly wrong.

I hope the future of performance vehicles isn’t as bleak as it looks. I, like many auto enthusiasts, have zero interest in EVs. They inspire zero excitement IMO, but to each their own. They are mere appliances to me. Sure, they deliver incredible acceleration and speed, but in such a boring manner, that it negates the performance.

That all being said, if economics and availability, in the future, make owning an EV as a DD practical, I’ll make do…BUT my performance toy(s) will always be V8 combustion engine muscle.

I don't believe in 10 years EV will be the fastest vehicles, maybe to some degree being stock, but here in Texas, plaids are getting there battery packs ripped out on the street, acid everywhere. LOL check out SSTX YouTube
