Factory ZLE Wing Removal

I'm going to be wrapping my car myself and that middle stanchion is currently in my way. I've seen videos of people removing aftermarket 1LE wings, but is the procedure any different for the factory wing?

1. Remove liner under inside of trunk
2. Remove 3 bolts per stanchion
3. Use floss to cut through 3m adhesive

Specifically is the factory wing 3m taped on? Because if it is I'm gonna have to figure out how to glue my wing back into place once I'm done wrapping.

I've had mine off twice for the same reason. Use dental floss.

The main concern is that you need to deal the holes when you put it back on. I just used a VERY thin layer of silicon, tightened to 89 inch pounds and send it!

Silicone like silicone caulk? This stuff? https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-Silicone...-Caulk/3070881

And is that removable in the future with floss as well?

I used a neophrene foam one-sided tape when installing. That way I can switch between my 1le style wing and my regular zl1 style spoiler depending on the situation.

Do you mind sharing some photos of how you did it?

I'm almost debating doing the racing stripe with wrap for the hood and roof and just masking the wing and plasticdipping the trunk, but it'd look too ghetto.

If you stand behind wing the and pull on the center stanchion towards you very hard you will put a dent in the trunk right behind that stanchion. hopefully the floss will remove any adhesion.

No pictures right now but I just cut a strip of the foam tape long enough to stick then used a razor to slice off the excess overhanging.
