A10 ZL1 roll race speeds
What's a good roll speed for the A10 when roll racing provided that you have sticky tire and can hook well. 30? 40? 50? 60 mph rolls? Duno if any of you have played around with different roll speeds and felt the ZL1s' strong and weak mph roll if that makes sense.

And don't forget to put it into performance driving mode with a quick stab of the gas pedal, and letting it run in auto, not manual.

Hmm interesting, care to explain why? Something to do with the power to weight ratios on the two vehicles to have the advantage to win?

More important to know as much as you can about the other guy and adjust start speed accordingly. Take for instance a new GT500 stang, roll race that guy from a low start speed, a dig. You have a chance to pull him all the way to 100 - 110 mph and then let off. Same with a heavy challenger, race those guys from a low start speed.

The heavier car has more difficulty getting going from a dig or a real low speed roll, giving the lighter car a chance to jump or pull out front by a car length and make the heavier high powered car play catch up. Two cars side by side , one 2000 lbs heavier and more horse, both rolling at 60 mph gives the high horse heavy car an advantage that is not there at 20 or 30 mph

Don't do this, if you stab the throttle to put it in "performance shift mode" it won't put you in the "lowest possible gear". Put the shifter in manual and hold the downshift paddle, this will put you in the Lowest possible gear, get the the MPH you both are agreeing too then when the "hit" comes mash the throttle and throw it back into drive for the transmission to do the rest.....it takes some practice but if you do it the way stated above, it may put you in 4th maybe even 5th gear which isn't ideal RPMs for roll racing.

I would never be able to hook at 30. I really can’t be going less then 60 on the street, if it’s really warm I can do 50, but nothing below this. Sometimes I need to skip 3rd completely. Track is different.

And also, heavy cars may not hook up as well if the weight distribution, such as in a 20+ GT500 or Hellcat Challenger, isn't very good. Both of those cars are heavy (GT500 is 4,160 lbs and the Hellcat Challenger is 4,500+ lbs) and have poor weight distribution. The GT500 is 56/44 front/rear, while the Hellcat Challenger is 57/43. More weight on the front means less weight at the rear to provide traction force to get the car rolling. For comparison, the ZL1 is about 54/46 front/rear, which is one reason why it tends to match the others to 60 mph despite being less powerful (and it's lighter). This is why a C7 Z06 (50/50 weight distribution) can do 0-60 in 3.0 sec. and the GT500, with a similar power to weight, is in the mid 3s (3.4-3.6). But at high speeds, the extra hp of the GT500 will pull away from the 650 hp Z06.
