Heck, who would've thought when they introduced the suv emustang. If this is true, it's a very smart move.

Gen7 Mustang should be an overall very transitional generation. An updated S550 at launch, retuned suspensions, power bumps, improved tech, etc. Then as the years move on we'll likely see hybrid options added, possibly including eAWD in addition to the power bump those systems provide. Then toward the latter time of the gen a full electric Mustang coupe. It'll allow buyers to ease towards the EV days ahead.

When you get a chance, calculate the total number of V8 Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers sold in 2019, 2020, or 2021. Point is, if Ford got all of those (they won’t) it would barely move the needle.

I can see that. Although, I can see GM also wanting those sales. Dodge (Stellantis) as a company is on government assistance for a long time. They need to go EV to gain that extra cash.

Ford is probably the only American company that can take the hit in regards to gas mileage ratings. They are the only that didn't go bankrupt. Almost did but almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

Yeah im not interested in EVs. I drive long distances, work from home, and nothing beats the feel of a ICE car.

Ive heard this from a bud that works at Ford. Theres still a good chunk of people in upper management that LOVE a Mustang with a V8. I gotta admit, Ford is not run by fools.

This is coming from a kid/guy that my whole family owned Chevys since the 70s. My grandfather retired from GM. Even I gotta give Ford props if they continue with their V8 plans. They can take the hit when it comes to corporate gas taxes. They should have enough EVs in their lineup to counter the V8 Mustang and the V8 F-150. GM and Stellantis need to stay on the feds good side.

Of course this will depend if the feds find a way to screw everyone as usual.

I think they will if they are the last V8. Most likely will be. Right now, vintage is hot. Look at the Bronco. Its a throwback machine and its eating GM and Dodges lunch.

Ford is going EV as well and as strong as GM or so they tell us. And not clear where you think GM and a foreign company need to be on the governments good side any more than Ford.

Ok an Escape with chassis plates isn’t eating anyones lunch. And Jeep still outsold Bronco. May not last but at least for 2021 Jeeps lunch was not eaten. At least I think you meant Jeep and not Dodge.

The baby Bronco or "Sport" is the Escape chassis. The Bronco is based on the Ranger, body on frame. Ford is going to dominate the market for a couple years, GM and Stellantis have nothing for them. The Wrangler hasn't had competition for a long time, and now Ford's built a better one. The hybrid Maverick is sold out for the first year.

I wish the top brass at GM put some advertising and research money into a Generation 7 Camaro. I think they overshot the C8 Vette and made it too expensive for the average Joe. The Z06 is awesome, but I don't have the $$$ for the huge markups they are going to grab for each and every one they make. There are still ridiculous markups on bare bones C8 Vettes right now.

Here's detail on V8 engines for Ford, GM, and Stellantis. If you just look at V8 engines sold in cars for those three companies, they amount to about just under 40,000 units per year for each company. Out of about 2.5 million vehicles sold for each company. V8 cars account for 1.5% of vehicles Ford sells. All Mustang. For GM, V8 cars account for 1.4%. That includes Camaro and Corvette. For Stellantis it's about 3.2% if you include 5.7L in the mix, and that includes Charger, Challenger, and 300. If you exclude 5.7L, it's 1.7%. In the grand scheme of things, those numbers get lost in the rounding.

Oh man, I'm sure you're real fun at parties. You can go buy your 7.4L F1350 SUPER DUTY PLATINUM to make sure EVERYONE knows your tool and masculinity is massive and bulletproof.

its too bad a TT 3.6 would be too expensive in the camaro.would certainly make it competitive with BMW and audi.
