That would certainly make me think about it. I'm not sure exactly what price would put me over the edge.

LT1 could get an hp bump using some (but not all) of the content of LT2, but then it would also likely get another RPO (LT3?). There are some aspects of LT2 that are done to accommodate mid-engine placement. Camaro could likely get the LT2 style intake manifold, but not the headers and not the dry sump.

The most hopeful post on the internet in 2022.

Has any shop been able to tune an LT2 Corvette engine yet with HP Tuners software ?

True, and there will always be a market of some sort - but that 8 or 9 dollar figure is 2 to 3 times what it currently is in most places in the US. The market WILL shrink if fuel costs triple and stay there, even where you are, I'm sure.

That was me at my optimistic best.

I’ve actually heard several “ideas” on hp increase for LT”1”, so there may be something to the idea of an hp bump. Fact of the matter is, though, most of what I heard was s’posed to happen for 2020 or 21 and it didn’t happen. So if anything is gonna happen, sharing pieces with LT2 makes more sense than the other things I’ve heard.

In 2019 I was at the golf course with a friend who was still in the Powertrain engineering group. He was driving a Captured Test Fleet 2020 SS Vert. I was, of course, driving my 2017 SS Vert. He said something about how much fun it was to drive 500 hp. I said “you mean 455”. He said “I meant what I said”. I asked him for details and he gave me the “you know better than to ask me that” look and we left it at that. So I did get the impression that something would be coming for 2020 or at latest 21. Clearly that didn’t happen. Apparently he was just effin’ with me.

Going off the past I truly thought the LT1 would come with the LT2 intake and a horsepower increase in 2021 like gm did back in 01 giving the ls1 the ls6 intake + power bump. If GM still gave a crap about the Camaro I bet this would have happened.

Fuel increases like this in the short-term are doubtful as it will take many years before we can ramp up EV battery production and charging stations to even make a dent in ICE based vehicles. Furthermore, current ICE based vehicles will be on the roads for the next 10+ years so it will take some time. If fuel hits $9 per gallon we will have a bunch of other issues as everything else will go up in price.

Isn’t the camaro six generation ending in 2024? Why would Chevy invest that much on a dying platform? If it was for the seventh generation it would have made more sense.

When gas got close to $4 per gallon in 2008 ish, it bankrupted GM. Bigger problems than having to sell your Camaros if gas hits $9 in anything short of 10 plus years.

You must be young, I am older and lived through the first muscle car crash. In the early 70s you could not! Give away a muscle car. We were pulling motors out of them and putting them in boats, tractor pullers anything but what they came in because they were worthless. They had discontinued leaded gas in high-octane. The cars were absolutely worthless. After they came out with lead substitutes, harden seats decades later the cars became valuable. This time when they remove gas completely they’re done. That’s why all those 70 muscle cars got chopped up for race cars. You still might be able to race these cars but you won’t be able to afford fuel. Yes it might take 10 years but you’ll be stuck with it. It’ll be like owning a racehorse or expensive art only for the very wealthy
