The stock valve train will work with a 2650 too, however I think the point you are trying to make is that the 2650 isn't needed until the high side fueling is upgraded. Like KingLT1 said, there are other options now besides a cam to address high side fueling.

When I typed that I was actually thinking of doing the work I said now, and then adding the 2650 later and maybe even with meth / eth. which of course could exceed his hp goals

I did 678rwhp with a 2650, 103mm snout, TB, and CAI and stock everything else all the way to the factory 4 cats and 91-octane gas.

If headers/cats were not a constraint, I am pretty sure we could have gotten 700rwhp with that combo.

I did 808rwhp with the 2650, 103mm snout, TB, and the toohighpsi plates/injectors pushing e85... stock cam/stock injectors.

The OP has all this. So won't just fuel (injectors, pumps) a healthy lower pulley, a trans tune and rear drag pack (and perhaps a driver mod) get him to 700 whp and low-mid 10s?

For 9s yeah I agree a blower change with associated accoutrements for 800+ will likely be needed to overcome the extra weight of the cage.

Agree that what with he's got already... a Kong X-Port would get him there (700rwhp)... or a 2650... or maybe just a pulley change (with the associated heat that comes with that).

Yes, which is why I recommended just a ported blower and pulley along with his current mods should get him very close. Drag pack, possibly TCM tune and the right track conditions with practice should dip into the 9s.

Looking closer at his post #4, and if all he wants is 50 hp or 700, one of Kong's ported Eaton blowers is all he needs, but not if he's certain he's eventually going to a 2650, in which case, a custom valve train sets the stage for a 2650.

A 50 shot is by far the least expensive way for him to get to 700 and not spend twice on blowers.

I can do the cam install myself so that saves a lot of cash. The injectors, high side pump, and DSX low side would be more expensive I would think in parts cost alone. If I went that route wonder what hp I could see with my current setup and a lower pulley

I'm not sure how much cam you can put in it before you change valve springs and other valve train parts, but a decent cam and lower might give you close to 50 hp.

I was told NHRA new rule for cars newer than 2014 dont need a roll bar until 8.99 now!

I just started a thread about that. I heard that rumor and was hoping it was true!

If you can do the cam yourself, pull that motor and hit your goal. The labor is what would put that out of budget for most folks.

Good luck either way, you’ve got many options to sift through lol

You guys have my mind running thinking of all the possibilities and different setups to reach 700 RWHP and hopefully dip into the 9s. I really miss the sound of a cam…… my C7 was fully built and that chop is amazing! The ported blower with a lower on like E 40 ish would probably also get me there. My goal is to hit 9.90s this next year. I feel like with 700 tire, drag pack which I already have (weld s-71s), and tcm tune I think it can happen with great weather. But I definitely want to have 800 plus in the next few years

Did the video not show up in my previous post? I see it on my end.

Jorge's ZL1 A10

Flex sensor
Rotofab big gulp

No blower port, no pulley. Would of likely already made a 9 second pass if life didn't get in the way.

You don't need a cam or larger supercharger to run 9's with these cars. Add blower port, pulley, fuel system, and 9's should be doable in average air.
