Cx5's are pretty darn good for the money. My wife has a 17 grand touring and loves it. We drove it to FL from PA last year and it did a good job, the only time I really started to wish for a more perforce and luxury suv was when we got to FL and everyone driving 90-95, you're pushing it Alot more at those speeds. Oh and the ridiculously small gas tank😂

Outside of the older CX-5's N/A feeling anemic, my ex and I LOVED it! It was a great, fun little SUV to drive. We ultimately upgraded to the CX-9, but they finally caught the CX-5 up w/ most of the nice features we really wanted (like memory seats, heated/cooled seats, etc).

Good choice!

CX-5 is a great choice. I'm eyeing a white on white CX-9.

Would never lease a vehicle. Lease doesn't make sense for everyone. I keep my vehicles 10-12 years. Better to just buy them outright.

I tossed up leasing my Accord in Jan 2018 but ended up buying. Sold it in Apr 2021 with 65k miles. Thanks to Covid, my grand total of ownership was about $5,000. Sure glad I decided against the lease. I was only mildly considering the lease cause I wanted to get more car than I could really afford. I, too, am generally a decade car owner… except for the Camaro… and the accord was an opportunistic sell.

I can see the allure to leasing. But mainly trucks or Winter vehicles. You are maintenance free, no issues, no worries...any problems then you drop it off, get a loaner, and they call you when it is fixed. And for a 36 month lease deal at like $300-$400 a month you're looking at $10K - $15K. So basically you just pay that amount and you are free of any issues for 3 years and when it is all over you just drop it off and hand over the keys and get another brand new one and do it all over again. And you can keep your main vehicle(s) too. Which is why I lease my truck.

Reliability aside, she chose the CX-5’s sportiness over the Rogue’s bigger size and tech filled cabin. I think the Camaro helped give her a bit of a “driving connoisseur” taste in cars. I’ll still poke around the forum from time to time but will probably be much less active.

Side note- got to sit in a C8 (regular removable roof) at a dealer. It wasn’t comfortable. I’m a hair under 6’-2” with a 30” inseam, and my head stuck above the windshield a solid 2”. It sure felt nice blipping the throttle tho.
CX-5 a nice looking ride. Definitely more room in the back seat

FYI: LOL… you must of not had the seat settings correct in the C8. I’m 6’’2” and I was able to get the keys to a new C8 last year and spent some time inside I had no issues with fitting in the car.

This is essentially it. The Camaro is bought but our primary vehicle is leased and likely always will. Getting a new vehicle every 4 years is extremely convenient and we don't have to worry about repairs and maintenance (depending on the brand). Plus we write a portion of the lease payments off on taxes. There are some great lease deals out there and after you do some math, leasing is cheaper (on a new vehicle) than purchasing, more-so if you can buy out the residual at the end of the term, with cash, and resell for higher. All in the maths.

We paid cash for my wife's 2015 Impala. We still own it and plan to keep it for many more years. It looks brand new, has under 30k miles on it still. We have paid $0.00 in repairs thus far... (only maintenance) How would leasing that been cheaper? (Interest on the lease alone makes it more expensive) Exact same situation with our 2018 Tahoe also bought brand new.

Impala. Sorry.

Our current lease rate is 0.99%, finance rates were over 3% at the same time.

I would never pay cash for a new vehicle. You can offset cheap rates by investing the excess cash somewhere else.

The Impala has been a great car and we both enjoy driving it. Personal opinions on paying cash for a vehicle or not have nothing to do with what I was asking or stating. Leasing doesn't always make the most sense for everyone. Besides you said yourself that it's best if you pay the residual off in cash if you can. Since a lease all you do is pay the depreciation the first few years, you basically are paying a big part of the car with cash if you pay the residual with cash.

You didn't answer my question. How would Leasing our Impala been cheaper?
