My plan today at the dealer is to drive the car, look it over inside and out. Compare the subtle differences between a new '22 and make an offer of 65k on the '18 ZLE with PDR, upgraded Nav option, red seat belts, indoor car cover, battery protection package with extremely low miles.

I will consider making them an offer (if they dont budge on the '18) to build a new '22 since they do have an allocation. They want $8G over msrp for the allocation ZLE. I would offer $2500 over msrp to build a new car.

Honestly I am not worried about depreciation on either car. If 5 years down the road my childrens sports and activities have taken over then I dont mind taking a haircut if I sell it. The latter would be the fact that the Camaro is discontinued and well optioned ZLE are holding their values or priced between 70-90 no matter the year.

Wish me luck
IMHO - There are plenty of dealers out there that don't mark up the MSRP. I would not pay more than MSRP, unless you are desperate for the car. Dam crooks who take advantage of current situation!!!!

That's capitalism in a nutshell. Emich Chevrolet in Colorado still has their Rapid Blue 6-speed. They list it with the $5000 markup, but as far as I can tell, they're willing to go back down to MSRP. I'm just glad that it's not a more palatable color or else I'd be tempted to negotiate with them. I figure GM is actually trying its best to make sure that their dealers aren't trying to gouge their customers with the MSRP, but I have seen it all over. Even the dealership that I'm ordering my ZL1 from has a couple of "used" Corvettes that they have listed for close to $100K in their used car lots. Hell, they have a 2018 ZL1 that they have listed for $80K+. Makes me think that once I get my ZL1 delivered, I'll sell it back to the dealership. Only problem is that I don't know when another ZL1 with a 6-speed built the way I want is going to be available.

Thank you! I feel very good about my decision with the Zl1.

I went with the full "painless" wiring system. I had to integrate the Holley super sniper, hyperspark ignition and distributor into it as well after I swapped the traditional MSD. They make really nice relay kits for the clean 12v power source and fuel pumps.

fun times!

Dealers with a high tendency to get allocations are building the cars and not even retailing them. Instead they are selling them to other dealers at a mark up! In turn, they mark it up even more. Basic economics, supply vs demand.
