Just had this issue with my car ('18 SLE). It passed tests, etc. twice, brought it to another dealer and they found the leak, it was the water pump.

Good luck, sometimes it takes a few tries to find these issues. Mine was a VERY slow leak, but you could at times smell coolant when the car was hot and been driven hard.

+1 for trying a different dealer.

I’m wondering if that’s the reason the original owner got rid of the car.

Update to this - GM Finally got a Field Services engineer out - they diagnosed that under RPM load the coolant system was going over normal pressure limits. Field Services engineer recommended that both head gaskets be replaced so the dealer is performing that in the next few weeks.

Also it was verified this cars engine was replaced before I bought it.

As far as I know, lemon law only applies to the original owner.

One of these things would come in handy if you have access to one.

Try and look on the backside of the waterpump pulley. Been known to weep some coolant there. It's really hard to see, but you'll likely catch a glimpse of some pink goo.

good luck

That was one of the first things we looked at and water pump was fine.

I actually have a thermal rifle scope with a HD microbolometer - never even thought of this. Will have to scope it out when it comes back.

Good luck; I hope that's the problem!

Just make sure you don't have it mounted on the rifle, and if you do, leave the safety on or you'll have all sorts of leaks.

So both head gaskets have been replaced. Picked it up and drove it about 100 miles this weekend. Coolant smell is still present and I’ll check the cold coolant level in the AM but pretty sure it’s still losing it at about the same rate. However, something presented itself that makes me think it’s the heater core. I noticed the windshield had developed a thin white film on it. Thought it was just grime and dirt. Used some windex to clean the windshield and out of curiosity smelled the rag, it reeked of coolant. I made sure it wasn’t the windex by just spraying some on a cloth and taking a sniff but it’s def a coolant smell. With that said heater core a likely culprit?
