Continental extreme contact sport or Toyo r888r?

Considering either tire for daily and road course events. I know there both different but seem to share the same charestics. Both seem to be good handling tires but from research seems like the r888r would have the edge in both handling and straight line grip.

The contis will obviously last longer. My only concern with the r888r is the noise that many speak of. I duno what there like hearing them inside the car especially with just only having a set in the rear but if they are darn impressive in straight line traction as well as handling then I'll put up with it.

If the conti ecs tires are not that far off in handling and straight line performance like the Toyos then maybe the continnentals will do. Any experiences with both tires or simply either one and how's the handling and straight line performance?

Two totally different tires. One is for street driving, the other is for road racing.

If you plan to DD then Conti is the way to go. If the majority of your driving is racing then Toyo is the way to go.

I have the Contis. Great for daily driving as others have said and yes I have seen folks track them but they are not as sticky as they get track heat in them.

Definitely would recommend the Toyos for track use or Michelin Cups, but would not do with them especially in the rain or in colder temps.

Not a ZL1 *yet* but I thought my PS4s were good on my SS sedan. OEM were Potenzas. I thought they did look better than the PS4s as the PS4s have a little more rounded shoulders.

As others said, these are two completely different tires.

I would probably get a second set of wheels for the track and wrap them with the Toyos, because if you try to daily drive them, you'll go crazy from the monster truck whine at >40 mph. They do grip much better than the Continental ECS and on a road course you probably won't hear them over the engine, but as a daily driver, nah, been there, tried that, ended up selling them

I’ve had both, I’d go with continentals for regular driving and toyos for track.

I use the ECS on my 1LE and it doesn't hold up when pushed hard on the back roads, sidewall feels soft, less responsive on the front, rear is really good but for whatever reason the change from the SC3 to the ECS the car picked up a hard push on the front that I would not buy another set. I've played with Psi up front up to 34 and 35 cold and it's not any better, haven't gotten in to the alignment to see if there's something there, there's nothing obvious in the alignment otherwise.

Good in the rain though, wears nicely, very nice street tire, rides nice, is quiet but I wouldn't buy another set of them.

Good advice, have you ever done any roll speed tests with the contis? Curious to know how well they put the power down on the Z to get a general idea?

I had a feeling the Toyos might get old as a daily with the sound so I guess I might have to pass if there that bad. Probably wise for a spare set for track and contis as the main daily tire as some have mentioned already. I just duno how well the contis hook up. If your spinning at a 60-70 mph roll then I duno, if it hooks around a 40ish roll or even lower then ok. Depends on the grip of the contis too.

Makes sense. Just out of curiosity since you had both, are they somewhat close in handling and straight line grip or are they that far apart it's not even a comparison?

First, I can not speak about the Toyo's. I don't track my car so those tires sound like overkill for my needs. I wore out two sets of the stock GY runflats on my SS. About 4000 miles ago I decided to give the Conti ECS a go. I would agree with all of WhiteMales feedback. I like the tire in every repsect except the initial turn in on the Conti's is not as crisp and there is more understeer (push) up front than I had with the GY tires. The Conti's do ride better, are definitely more quiet and are wearing well. I just miss that turn in feeling I had with the GY tires. Good luck with the decision.
