Hopefully you have a catch can installed because gas dilution trashes oil viscosity quickly From what I understand the oil pump failures are all because the oil pump gear is cheap pot metal and gets stress cracks, then fails completely over time. A slightly higher oil viscosity would not help |

At the risk of being mocked, I opened up the old oil pump, and it was perfect on the inside. No stress cracks or anything amiss.
I'm really happy I did it anyway. I have a couple of trips planned for next year, and this really takes away any doubts about the reliability of the car. |

Here you go. The internal rotor seems like pretty high quality material. It does not look like it would break.

I upgraded to the TRUCK Katech pump because it was supposed to have higher PSI.
Did any of you change anything in your Tunes after installing the Katech pump? My oil pressure seems a bit funky to me in all my logs. My main bearings have additional clearance and I also feed the turbo at the same port where the oil pressure sensor is. I modified the valley cover to work with my build. Seems to max out around 50psi. Looking at my old logs with the oem bearings and oem pump but same turbo feed, max oil psi was 55 psi.
