Not sure how I am alienating my dealer... I never said where I bought the car, and its a defect from factory, I NEVER said it was my dealers fault.

I would not worry about either one just keep an eye on the one and if you see it grow (start to rust) hit it with 3000 grit and touch up paint but that's several years down the road. Drive it and enjoy it.
Thank you dp, I really appreciate your input. And same to hotlap, 2SS Capt, and smokeybrown, thank you guys too.

I did not realize I'm not allowed to ask questions about my brand new $50,000 car....

I want to know if this will rust or not and if I should have it looked at sooner or later per my above posts.

The bubble ones I would keep a close eye on, the other flat one probably won't change... If you see any change in the bubble ones, have it addressed (by a reputable body shop), otherwise, no change, I'd leave it alone...

It wouldn't matter to me whether it was a new $25,000 car or a $100,000 car, an imperfection from the factory is an imperfection from yhe factory that needs to be corrected. Chevy's paint quality has been suffering for over a decade and this should not be acceptable.

Take it to the dealer to see if it would be covered under warranty. If so, negotiate to take the car to a trustworthy body ship in the area. I have no idea why people are saying that this is asking for trouble, it would be pretty easy for an experienced body shop to take care of.

As a general rule. The potential for harm outweighs the good

Maybe CamaroBody and others on this forum have incompetent dealers, but I don't....(and to assume all dealers are incompetent is just assinine) I've been taking my vehicles to my same dealer as long as I've lived in this area and that's been over 30 years now. I wouldn't hesitate to take my vehicle there for anything, but I would hesitate to take it to a LOT of other shops in this area. It's a brand new car with a full warranty... I'd 110% take it back to the dealer and have them look at it. You'd be foolish not to.

The simple truth is that the dealer is only going to perform work that’s approved and paid for by Chevy. This almost certainly involves a touch up pen (for interior trunk area) With that said, Wild Cherry is a 3 step paint. Spraying inside an otherwise finished trunk and masking everything off while still blending in that area is 100% not practical. I don’t disagree on the paint quality, it’s hit or miss.

My history with a Chevy dealer repair? My ZL1 had a minor 2” long x 1/16” shallow scratch in the rear bumper from shipping. I gave The dealer the opportunity to repair in-house. The results were terrible…sand marks, tried to blend instead of removing bumper, over spray of paint and thick clear bumper to tail light, bumper to reflector, bumper to lower black facia and worst of all, they must have left a heat lamp too close to the repair… the bumper buckled inward at repair (dent). After a heated debate (no pun intended), there was an agreement that I could take it to an independent shop to repair their damage. That work came out great, but cost the dealer, not GM $1600. All I got from this was aggravation…

Personally, i would take it to the dealer. Have them look at it and make note of the issue. Then leave.

If something happens down the raod you can have it fixed. With at least a little less issue

Competency is hit or miss in all areas of life so I do all of my own work unless its beyond my skills. Cars, home, yard, equipment maintenance...

Examples:
When I built a new home, there were carpentry areas where I told the builder to stop and I would correct it because I knew I'd do it better.

My 2016 Camaro had a A8 transmission line recall. When I inspected the work afterwards, I noticed half the clips weren't reinstalled. I asked the dealer to give them to me and I finished the job.

When I do find competence, I hold on to those relationships. Concours Auto Works ...for instance ...is top notch so I've gone there 25 years. Same with ClearBra WI. Mechanical stuff I do myself.

In the case of the OP's hidden blemishes. I wouldn't.

Ya, I hear ya... There are over 4300 GM/Chevy dealers in the US. For anyone to make an assumption they are all bad is just ridiculous. It simply is not true.

If I was in the OP's situation, I would 110% take it to the dealer. If for no other reason then what FarmerFran said.. "Get it documented". It ain't going to hurt anything to take it in and see what they say. You can always get in the car and leave.

I agree.

There isn't a single vehicle rolling out of a factory that's 100% perfect. With something like this, it's irritating but trying to 'fix it' will make it much, much worse. Make an appointment with the dealer to bring the car back in to discuss items, and bring this up. Ask them ONLY to note it in the record of the vehicle and be sure to get a copy of the Repair Order with the appropriate details printed out. Move on...

If a bigger problem occurs later that can be traced back to this, THEN push for a repair.

Thank you to everyone for the feedback. As of right now my plan is to take it back to my dealer and have them document it ONLY.

Them documenting this WILL NOT result in it coming up on the CARFAX or AUTOCHECK right? It may be a dumb question but I just want to make sure.
