XP small micron filtration isn't available, people think that's because it doesn't filter well on small particles, if that interests you. I ran the non-XP WIX.

How does Mobil 1 Oil Filter stand up to WIX and Napa Gold these days? Also whats the correct M1 Filter PN we should be using? I checked the website and it seemed to be M113a and not M113
- M113 seems to cross reference to all LSX types of the past, but is M113a in some way amped up to meet OE standards in terms of the anti-drainback valve? I was looking at this thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=471243 Specifically post #5: Quote:

For the first oil change I used the OEM. Second change will be OEM as well because I bought two filters at once (I have this thing about not having any spares). After that it will be Wix WL 10290XP as I now have a case of them sitting on the shelf. I've been using Wix on all of my vehicles for years and it's pretty much all I keep in stock in my shop.

I like where you're going with that!
Pf64 and valvoline 5w-30 off amazon. The 5 qt price is already cheaper than walmart. Not sure about the filter price at walmart, but with cost of gas still a no-brainer. Nobody on here (that I know of) is a ChemE or has a PhD in organic. So I'll take my degree in chem and confidently avoid the overpriced Mobil 1 ESP for my needs. |

But it's AC Delco for me always. What's in the manual is what goes on all my GM cars over the many years I have owned them. That's based on a few of experiences with other manufacturers: a FRAM cartridge filter for an ECO-Tec I4 deformed beyond recognition, an STP spin-on leaking through the swaged joint between the can and the base, and some other brand I don't recall with a reduced area gasket. |
