I guess. At least in the USA there’s tax advantages to the method I described. (Hence why everyone always complains the mega rich don’t pay any taxes)
Don’t get me wrong, I know a guy that is insanely well off (borrowed his Urus for a while.) He pays cash for cars. Even though most of his associates would say he’s crazy for doing it BUT he’s really old and has so much money it doesn’t really matter at this point. The money will outlive him lol.

I’ll also agree with Camaro fanboy on most people having luxury cars up to their eyes in debt they can’t really afford.

we paid cash for ours and you can see that online lol.
jealousy is a nasty trait
So your saying people give you jealous looks because they can tell you bought it cash when you drive by? I'm confused.

What is mentioned above does in part depend on current interest rates.

Is this thread about how often your car gets attention or is it about the proper way to pay for your car and investing? Why don't you guys take your arguments to PM's and stay on topic? Nobody gives a rats A$$ how you paid for your car or how you feel you should pay for your car.

Back to the topic.. I get a fair amount of attention with my SS. I get a ton of compliments on the HBM Color.

Sad reality in Canada, people don’t know what car I’m driving. Cant believe its a Camaro. This is due to the lack of marketing by GM and lack of popularity for the car. People love it though.

The best complements I’ve gotten are.

A little girl in my subdivision stood on the side walk, with her jaw dropped and her arms hanging, as I drove past in my 13 ZL1 Bluray metallic. Obviously knew it from Transformers. Her body turned to watch until I was out of view.

A mother, with her two little children standing near in front of her, watched me walk to my 18 Hot Wheels 2SS at the grocery store. She took photos as I started it a drove past slowly.

My 20 1LE 2SS has gotten a lot of compliments from men. Badass! Best was the CEO of my company who whet out to look at it and mentioned it in two staff meetings. He didn’t even notice my Hot Wheels …or disliked it so much he never mentioned it.

16 2SS was Nightfall Gray, Gray Split-spokes and Kalahari interior. No one noticed it really, but it was a conservative look. Interestingly, my wife got compliments when she drove it.

The Hot Wheels and 1LE have gotten the most attention. In fairness, I didn’t drive the ZL1 as many places

Yeah, and who in the world goes around checking to see if you own the car or not? That's so creepy and weird. You could do anything, literally anything else with your time. And everyone is in a different situation. Some people are well off enough that they always want the latest and the greatest through leasing.

I don't see anything wrong with borrowing money as long as you have a good idea on risk assessments and can differentiate between wants and needs.

Anyways...

That's true. I have even encountered people on track who can't tell if it's a Camaro. GM marketing is pretty trash.

Exactly.

My car gets a fair amount of attention. A member of local law enforcement has told me it's his 'dream car'. I get the usual people wanting to race. People pull up at a light, roll their windows down and make a positive comment. Mopars and Fords revving their engines as they go by in the opposite direction. It's all good.

Again, this thread is about the attention your car gets out in public. So you're saying that when someone sees your car in public, the first thing they do is go online and see if you own it? And then they give you that dirty jealous look? I'm sorry, but I seriously cannot imagine any normal person even considering doing that to a car they see drive by in public. I can't imagine anybody even caring. All I can say is if that's true, thank God I do not live in that country. I would be absolutely shocked if an entire population was really that shallow, and I know quite a few people from Sweden. Been there myself but many years ago. Anyway...
