It may just come down to whether or not they have the parts in the bin on the day your Camaro is on the assembly line.

Have we become so spoiled these days that not having heated/ventilated seats or no heated steering wheels is a deal breaker?
Consider this. GM having the option of building and storing vehicles until such a time as the necessary chips become available (perhaps not till late 22 or early 23), or.... Decide to build and sell cars now, but without a few options that rely on the chips.?? How did we ever live without these luxuries ?? Back in tyhe 60's, only the top of the line vehicles had power seats. Most of us simply had to pull up a lever at th ebase of the seat and scoot forward or back to adust the distance to the steering wheels. Recline?? nope. Let alone heated or ventilated. Heated steering wheels? We wore gloves. Heck, even the windows went up and down by turning a crank. With all things considered, it makes perfect sense for GM to simply offer these vehicles now, without the particular options that rely on the hard to come by chips. This would help satisfy many people that have been waiting a long time to buy a new vehicle. And, it would help to slightly reduce the number of vehicles GM would otherwise have to store in lots until the chips become available. As far as retrofitting, at least for the heated seats, it's not a simple as just installing the chip in a socket somewhere. Just yeateday at a club event, I happened to be taling to a member who's wife works for the company that makes the heated seats and asked that question. Evidently it's a rather complex procedure to retrofit the seat. Don't have any idea on retrofitting the steering wheels. All in all I'm sure there will be many people glad to give up these options if they are able to buy a new vehicle. As far as which vehicle gets the option to include these options, I'd guess it like many other choices for GM, the higher the profit margin, the greater the odds of having those options available. |

What would be the procedure if a vehicle you have on order doesn't get these features that you were expecting? Does GM notify the dealer to then notify you prior to the car being built? I've got a 2SS 1LE on order, and I don't want it to just show up at the dealership next year at some point without these features (some of which are the reasons I went for a 2SS over the 1SS). I'd hope that someone either at GM or the dealership would contact the buyer prior to the car being assembled to give you the choice on whether to go ahead with the order or not, but I'm not really sure.

Here’s what my Dealer sent to me when I asked about the heated seats/steering wheel issues.

Notice that there is no mention of the Camaro, so he feels the Camaro is unaffected.

Talk of the 'good old days' is meaningless - I mean, why don't we all just go back to riding horses or walking everywhere?

No similar ventilation option though - unless the horse is trying to buck you off?

Maybe the camaro and corvettes wont be effected because they’re Low volume now days compared to everything else in the line up? Looks like the ultra high trim models of the most expensive stuff they sell is safe. Yukon denali , Tahoe high country. Didn’t see corvette or camaro on the list as leanordS mentioned. (Thanks leanordS !) What was interetesing though is the CT5V lost the heated steering wheel. Thats kind of surprising due to what it is and the high msrp. Anyone notice the Escalade isnt missing anything? LOL. |

Agreed - but my comments from the beginning have been geared more towards those people that have an in-flight order that was placed before the features were deleted and now have no choice in whether they will be on the car they are expecting or not.

In my area, car dealers have zero new inventory. Any new car that touches the lot sells immediately. Lack of heated seats and steering means nothing to area buyers.

Heated seats matter in North Dakota. We had a Blazer RS on order for my wife and we canceled the order when the Dealer called to tell me it wouldn’t have heated seats/steering wheel.

My' 21 ZL1 is the first car I've had with a heated steering wheel. I love that feature. It's more effective than wearing gloves in the car. The steering wheel gets warm within 10 seconds of turning it on.
Also, the ventilated seats are fairly weak, but they do help a little on a hot day.
